*Today’s Diary*

Today was the end-of-term ceremony for the second semester. From tomorrow, there will be a break for a while.

Specifically, it will be a solid 20-day break, with 10 days for the end of the year and 10 days for the new year.

Like the summer vacation, it is also the season when all the students from the academy return home, so the academy becomes very quiet.

I, Lux, was considering returning to the southern village if my little sister, Noris, was tired of the cold, but since Norris said, “It’s fine,” we decided to stay in the city of Rodon.

Among the members of the Catrap,

Maria, Ratt-kun, and Frank are returning home.

Heinz said, “I already went back recently, so it’s fine”, and will stay at the dorm. He has already informed his family of this by letter.

Lite and Lev, who have no family to go back to, will also stay.

I thought that Heinz, being a noble, would have various social obligations, but when I asked, he said, “It’s just a hassle. It should be fine to skip it for a year”.

It seems that Heinz was also considering that if it were a proper homecoming, Lev and Lite would have to go along with him.

Lev and Lite had been living in the dorm until they came to Rodon, so they have no home in Lemnos.

I thought they could stay at Heinz’s house, but for Heinz, even though he trusts the two, they are still newcomers who have only been on the bodyguard duty for about half a year, so they would probably not be treated well. Heinz thought that it would be uncomfortable for them to stay there during the New Year’s holiday.

“We’ll stay at an inn or something…” Lite said, but Heinz shook his head.

Since a year should be enough for things to change, Heinz seems to have the idea of going back when his family and Lev and Lite’s opinions have shifted.

The local members, Hana and Rick-san, are just spending time at their homes.

And then Sonia, after some correspondence with her family, found out that her mother is still strongly opposed, but she decided to go home during the summer vacation next year.

So, most of the team will spend the New Year in this city.

It might be quite a lively end of the year.

Just like the summer vacation, Maria and the others, mainly the noble children, had an early break due to preparations for their return home. In the recent academic exam, Heinz and Hana both safely avoided failing, and there was a somewhat relaxed atmosphere in the classroom. This was especially true today, as all that’s left is the closing ceremony in the afternoon.

I absentmindedly remembered the time when we all visited Linkert-san’s place recently. It was a New Year’s greeting. At that time, we were invited to a simple party after the New Year, and I’m looking forward to it.

After the end-of-term ceremony, there would be a simple party at the dorm. After this party, everyone would return to their homes, as was the tradition. The somewhat floaty air in the classroom was suddenly changed when Fol-sensei arrived. He had said he would be out for self-study, but came back looking displeased.

“Hey, who’s staying behind in the dorm for the newspaper club?” (Fol)

He asked us.

Heinz answered on behalf of the group.

“Me, Lux, and Sonia. As for the others, Rick-san, Lite, Lev, and Hana are still in the city, right?” (Heinz)

“There are more staying than I expected… It’s fine if all of you stay, but it’s a special mission. Pick two or three people who can move around for about a week starting the day after tomorrow.” (Fol)

“Special mission… at this time of year?” (Heinz)

“Yeah. I’ll explain the details later. When you’ve decided who is going, come to my office.” (Fol)

With that, he left the classroom again.

“What do you think it is?” (Lux)

I asked, and Heinz tilted his head.

“Who knows? What should we do?” (Heinz)

“I’m fine with going.” (Lux)

I said.

“If Lux is going, then I’ll go too.” (Sonia)

Sonia added.

“I’m curious too, so I’ll go along.” Heinz said. (Heinz)

Heinz said.

“If Heinz is going, then we’ll go too.” (Lite)

Lite said, with Lev agreeing as well.

“I’m sorry, but I’ll decline.” (Rick)

Rick-san, who, being a devoted husband, would rather spend the holiday with his wife.

“Hana, what about you?” (Sonia)

Sonia asked. Hana, when asked, replied.

“Umm… what should I do… It would be fine to go for about a week, I suppose…” (Hana)

So, the six of us, excluding Rick-san, decided to go. We all went together to Fol-sensei’s office.

“What is this… too many of you? Are you all bored?” (Fol)

Fol-sensei said rudely.

“So, what exactly is this special mission?” (Heinz)

Heinz prompted.

“You’ve probably already heard from the noble information channels, but there will be a ceasefire declaration right after the New Year… You know about it, right?” (Fol)

“Yes, it’s in conjunction with the announcement of the engagement of the Princess of Remnos,” Heinz replied. (Heinz)

After nodding at Heinz’s words, Fol-sensei continued.

“The Princess is coming here in secret.” (Fol)

“Huh?” (Heinz)

“As I said. The Princess of Remnos is coming to this academy in secret. She plans to inspect all the way to the northern front.” (Fol)

“Eh!?” (Heinz)

Heinz reacted with unusual surprise.

Fol-sensei continued while watching Heinz’s expression.

“Of course, the other side will have their own guards, and we’ll also send proper soldiers aside from you. But…” (Fol-sensei)

“But?” (Heinz)

“She also wants to interact with students around her age. And so, she requested the newspaper club. Do you have any ideas who might fit?” (Fol)

…Well, yes, there is.

Heinz muttered softly beside me.

“This is the worst…” (Heinz)

At the year’s end, in the northern country of Solar, the ground was buried under a blanket of white snow, and the people quietly wait for the arrival of spring. On the main street, which was not busy with people, students from the Revolf Military Academy were shoveling snow.

Every year, during this time, the snow shoveling in the morning was an important task for the students of the Revolf Military Academy, aimed at building friendly relations with the local residents.

“Man, it’s really coming down.” (??)

One of the students said, looking up at the sky with a tired expression.

It was calm for now, but at night, the snow would fall again, and by morning, they wpi;d be shoveling snow again.

“Well, we can’t help it. Just think of it as good exercise.” (??)

Another student said, laughing as he spoke to the grumbling student. At that moment, a student from the other side of the street called out.

“Hey!” (??)

The students looked up to see what was going on.

“Willard! Instructor Hummet’s calling you!” (??)

One of the students shouted, relaying the message to Willard.
