A Trip Outside the Royal Capital

“Haah… I’m so bored…” (Lizette)
More than a month into summer vacation, Liz slumped over the table with a sigh.
“Well, it can’t be helped. It’s so hot out, and while we’d love to go for a swim in the sea, you’re the First Princess of the Capetien Kingdom. If something happened to you, it’d be a major incident.” (Harold)
I shrugged as I sipped tea Monica had specially prepared with mint, honey, and lemon.
Speaking of which, this drink is refreshing and easy to drink. It’s perfect for summer.
“Oh my. If that’s the case, why not visit the church? It’s quite cool there.” (Christia)
“I’ll pass. While the Capetien Kingdom does support the Baltian Church, I’m not exactly a devout follower myself.” (Lizette)
“Ah, what a shame.” (Christia)
Despite her words, Christia sipped her tea with a calm demeanor. She probably never intended to go in the first place.
“By the way, where are Uly and the others?” (Harold)
“They’re out again today, accompanying Liliana-sama as she tours the food stalls.” (Monica)
“Wow… she never gets tired of that, huh?” (Harold)
Monica’s response made me let out an exasperated sigh.
Just how much does she love meat? If she keeps up this diet, she’s bound to gain weight eventually… or so I thought. Yet, no matter how much she eats, her figure never changes. Is it because she’s the protagonist of ‘Galhaz’ and has some cheat skill like Dieting? Though, there wasn’t any such skill in ‘Enhaz’.
“Hmm… Liz seems bored, so why don’t we step outside the royal capital for a bit? If it’s just a day trip, it shouldn’t be too dangerous.” (Harold)
“! That’s a wonderful idea!” (Lizette)
Liz’s eyes sparkled with excitement, probably because she was relieved to escape her boredom.
Well, there’s not much to see outside the royal capital, but if I think of it like taking a drive in my previous life, it’s not a bad choice.
“Your Highness Harold, I’ll arrange for a carriage immediately.” (Monica)
“Alright, thanks.” (Harold)
And so, we boarded the carriage Monica arranged and left the royal palace, heading beyond the royal capital.
“Oh my… isn’t that Liliana and the others?” (Lizette)
“Huh, you’re right.” (Harold)
At the end of Liz’s pointing finger, we spotted Liliana holding multiple skewers of meat with a satisfied grin, while Lloyd frantically protested, and Uly watched with a wry smile as he tried to stop him.
Those three have gotten quite close over the past month. Though Uly still finds excuses to stick close to me whenever possible.
“Let’s hurry along. If Ulysses-sama sees us, it’ll be a hassle.” (Alexandra)
“Ahaha…” (Harold)
Uly is Xandra’s nemesis, so she’s desperate to keep him from joining them. No need to worry, though. Thanks to Liliana’s (unintentional?) help, they hadn’t noticed our carriage.
And so…
“…There’s nothing here, is there?” (Lizette)
“That’s to be expected. Outside the royal capital is just like this, isn’t it?” (Harold)
The scenery beyond the gates was a plain overgrown with grass.
Well, from a strategic standpoint, it makes sense not to have any defensive structures in the area where battles could take place.
“Your Highness Harold, there’s a small stream a bit further ahead. How about heading there?” (Monica)
“Oh, that sounds nice.” (Harold)
At Monica’s suggestion, the carriage headed toward the stream. However…
“This… doesn’t look like a stream, does it?” (Harold)
The river was about a hundred meters wide. This wasn’t a stream—it was the Temsis River.
The Temsis River runs through the royal capital, Kadit, serving as a lifeline for the kingdom. It’s used not only for daily necessities but also as a critical point for transportation and trade.
“As your dedicated maid, joking is a part of my repertoire.” (Monica)
“Ah, I see.” (Harold)
“How cold you’ve become, Your Highness Harold… Am I to be discarded now?” (Monica)
“Alright, alright. Enough of that.” (Harold)
Not that I’d ever discard someone as irreplaceable as you, and you know it. Though the fact that we can exchange jokes like this is a testament to the nature of our relationship.
That said…
“Hmm… the breeze feels great, and the view is nice.” (Harold)
“Doesn’t it? Feel free to lavish me with more praise.” (Monica)
The moment I compliment her, she gets like this. Honestly, she already stands out enough. She doesn’t need to puff out her chest any more than she already does.
“Haru! Let’s have tea here!” (Liz)
“Sure, sounds good.” (Harold)
At Liz’s suggestion, or rather, her command, we spread a blanket on the ground and started enjoying tea. However…
“It’s rare to see a woman in a maid’s uniform walking around in a place like this.” (Harold)
“Indeed. It seems that individual’s memory lasts no longer than a month.” (Monica)
Xandra and I exchanged shrugs as we watched a woman in a maid’s uniform with braided hair. She was Margaret’s personal maid.
