Seeking Magical Dancers
(Thank you for reading at bayabuscotranslation.com)
The next morning, on the first floor of the inn’s dining hall.
The four members of Liberta were seated at a table. They were our leader, Alfred, along with Lizbeth, Lindsay, and me, Jack. Tristan had returned to Soltaire at dawn before any of us were even awake.
Does he only get about three or four hours of sleep? As expected from my mentor, his stamina is incredible.
As for why Dwayne wasn’t here, I had no idea. Around the time we all finished breakfast, Alfred spoke up abruptly.
“Alright then, time to go make some money!” (Alfred)
“Wait, where’s Dwayne?” (Lizbeth)
Liz voiced her question aloud. It looked like I wasn’t the only one who didn’t know why Dwayne was absent.
“I’ve got him working on a different job.” (Alfred)
“Why isn’t the biggest spender helping out with fundraising?” (Lizbeth)
“I can’t tell you right now. He’s a scholar type. He’s got a way of making money that involves planning for the long haul.” (Alfred)
“That makes no sense.” (Lizbeth)
“You’ll get it eventually, so don’t worry about it.” (Alfred)
Although Liz didn’t look entirely convinced, she fell silent since it was the leader’s decision.
“So, what are we hunting this time?” (Lindsay)
Lindsay chimed in. An adventurer party’s work usually consists of hunts or dungeon explorations. Most quests we accept from the guild are similar.
“If we need to avoid overspending and only have a few days, we can’t take on anything that pays a huge reward, can we?” (Lindsay)
“Lindsay, we’ve got power, but we’ve also got unique skills, right?” (Alfred)
“Special skills…?” (Lindsay)
After tilting her head for a moment, her face lit up, and she clapped her hands in understanding.
“Oh, I get it, magic!” (Lindsay)
“Exactly!” (Alfred)
“We’ll take a quest with lots of targets and finish them quickly using magic, right?” (Lindsay)
“Wrong! You’re bloodthirsty today, huh?” (Alfred)
Maybe Lindsay enjoys hunting more than I thought. Beneath that angelic smile she usually wears, there’s a terrifying beast lurking.
“Uh… then I don’t get it.” (Lindsay)
“Well, whatever. It’ll be faster if I just show you! Let’s go.” (Alfred)
Alfred stood up and left the table. The three of us exchanged puzzled glances before following him.
—
“Wait, so it’s a guild quest after all.” (Lizbeth)
We arrived inside the Adventurer Guild, where the stained glass added a dignified aura. Liz was the first to speak in front of the bulletin board.
“But it’s not hunting this time. Look at that!” (Alfred)
With a flourish, Alfred pointed at a particular quest notice. Unlike the other modest postings, this one was overly fancy and had a strange sense of out-of-place extravagance. It looked like it was written on high-quality parchment or something.
This was what it said:

A moment of silence followed.
Lindsay and Liz exchanged glances. They made eye signals and shook their heads, as if communicating something to each other.
“Of course we refuse!!” (Lizbeth)
Liz was the first to break the silence with a loud, angry outburst. Her voice echoed in the solemn atmosphere of the adventurers’ guild. Nearby people turned to look, curious.
“Alfie! Dancer costumes are pretty revealing, you know! Are you telling us to wear something like that?” (Lizbeth)
Lindsay quickly followed up.
“Revealing, huh…?” (Jack)
“Exactly. Dancer costumes are the hope of mine, no, of all men… no, of humankind!” (Alfred)
“You’re such an idiot!” (Lizbeth)
Liz was adamantly opposed. I had never seen such costumes, so I couldn’t even imagine what they looked like. But since Alfred was so insistent, they must be quite something. It’s not that I wouldn’t want to see them, but the thought of my teammates wearing such embarrassing outfits in front of everyone made me feel uncomfortable, too.
“Hold on, let’s stay calm and look at the quest.” (Alfred)
However, neither of the women was listening. With angry eyes, they continued to glare at Alfred. He seemed a bit intimidated, too.
“The pay is 10,000 per day! That’s the same as hunting ten ogres! If we do this for the next six days, that’s 60,000! That’s a massive earning opportunity!” (Alfred)
“We came here to conquer dungeons! Not to parade around in embarrassing outfits!” (Lizbeth)
“Look, they also provide mana potions! With your magic levels, you could easily handle the performance without needing more mana. We’d be saving potion money, too!” (Alfred)
“That’s not what I’m talking about!” (Lizbeth)
The argument continued. With the two women against him, it was an uphill battle for Alfred. Meanwhile, perhaps sensing his predicament, Alfred looked me in the eye and gave me a pleading look.
Oh, don’t drag me into this.
“Jack, you’d like to see Liz and Lindsay in sexy outfits too, wouldn’t you?” (Alfred)
“Wha—!” (Jack)
At Alfred’s comment, Lindsay looked up at me, her expression one of shocked betrayal.
“Stop trying to rope Jack into this!” (Lindsay)
“Jack, as a comrade, we’d like to hear your opinion, too.” (Alfred)
“Don’t use the word ‘comrade’ just when it’s convenient for you!” (Lindsay)
Lindsay was doing her best to prevent him from tempting me into it. Meanwhile, I was unable to say anything.
“Jack, you’re on our side, aren’t you?” (Lindsay)
“There’s a man inside of you somewhere, Jack. Show it!” (Alfred)
Adults are sneaky. They only bring kids into things when it suits them.
But I am curious! I am genuinely interested in seeing the dancer costumes! I want to see…!
But I don’t want to get on Liz and Lindsay’s bad side either! Alfred’s eyes were sparkling with conviction. So, this is what it means to be a man… to overcome inner conflicts, to sometimes be kind to women, and at times bare our fangs… to grow and mature.
That’s what it means to be a man… Wait, is that really it? Don’t be fooled. Alfred is just being honest about his desires. But is there anything wrong with that? What am I supposed to do? What should I do…?
“I… um…” (Jack)
“Excuse me, may I have a moment?” (??)
A voice cut off my words. A man with a neatly trimmed mustache and wearing clean, refined clothing spoke up. Although he was skinny, he stood tall and gave off the impression of a gentleman.
“I didn’t mean to eavesdrop, but I couldn’t help overhearing with those loud voices.” (??)
The gentleman apologized with a polite bow. Alfred, Liz, and Lindsay watched him quietly. Perhaps, it was just instinct for adventurers to be cautious with strangers upon meeting them.
“Pardon me for not introducing myself sooner. I am Armando Barocco, an executive with the Dali Amor Tourism Association.” (Armando)
“Dali Amor Tourism Association?” (Jack)
“Indeed. I am also the one who posted this quest.” (Armando)
“Is that so?” (Alfred)
“As you may have read there, we’re in dire need of dancers skilled in magic control.” (Armando)
The man who introduced himself as Armando-san explained the situation politely, then turned toward the two women.
“This year’s carnival, I want to liven things up with the dancers’ magic performances somehow. If it’s the Adventurer Guild, I thought there might be some mages like that.” (Armando)
Armando-san furrowed his brow dramatically and began to rub it with one hand. He seemed to be recalling something in a troubled manner. It was a performance, but it didn’t give off an unpleasant vibe.
“Since we had requested a high-paying job, several adventurers visited our office,” (Armando)
Armando-san spoke slowly, deliberately, as if to build suspense.
“When it comes to skilled individuals, well, it’s just that there aren’t many who can satisfy the public’s expectations in terms of appearance.” (Armando)
Ah, I see. It might be quite rare to find someone who can skillfully wield magic and possess the beauty of a dancer. However, there are two such rare talents in Liberta.
“Oh, that’s convenient. As you can see, our party has two beauties!” (Alfred)
Alfred chimed in, picking up on Armando-san’s intentions. He wrapped his arms around Liz and Lindsay, who were standing beside him.
“Hey, don’t decide without asking us!” (Lizbeth)
“My, I’m surprised too. It’s not every day you meet such beautiful people. If it’s not too much trouble, I would love to have you,” (Armando)
“Eh?” (Lizbeth)
Liz reacted slightly to Armando-san’s flattery. Though she was usually difficult to please, it seemed every woman weakened at a compliment.
“Furthermore, I would like to offer you a special rate of 12,000 G per day this time.” (Armando)
“Eh, that’s…!” (Lizbeth)
Feeling that her worth as a woman was being recognized, Liz’s face slightly flushed.
Armando-san is good at this.
“But I don’t want to wear revealing outfits.” (Lindsay)
Lindsay interjected calmly.
“You need not worry. The costumes we provide will have a little flair added to them, with more ornate decorations than a typical dancer’s outfit. I believe they will be less revealing than you might imagine.” (Armando)
“Oh, really?” (Lindsay)
Lindsay was starting to come around a bit.
Although the situation is flowing rather conveniently, would it really be alright?
“How about just discussing it? We have several costumes at our office. You can decide after actually seeing them.” (Armando)
“Hmm… well, if it’s just listening to the story, that’s fine.” (Lindsay)
“Alright!” (Alfred)
Alfred was the most thrilled, raising both hands in a victory pose. Armando-san also smiled contentedly, as if to indicate that their choice was indeed correct.
Thus, we were led to the office of the Dali Amour Tourism Association.
—
“Ultimately, we’re still showing our belly button!” (Lizbeth)
Liz had complained after trying on the costume, but the fact that she was already wearing it meant she didn’t seem too unhappy with it. After arriving at the office, the two were prompted to try on the costumes since they couldn’t make a decision just by looking at them.
For Liz, a costume based on blue was chosen to match her short, neatly trimmed black hair. The silk skirt flowed down to her feet, with a deep slit up to her waist, exposing her sexy legs. It suited Liz’s sharp features very well, and her embarrassment at being flushed only added to the score.
“And it’s kind of tight.” (Lizbeth)
Lindsay also seemed a little uncomfortable, perhaps because the clothes didn’t fit her properly.
I think the tightness is mainly in the bust area, as the tightness and emphasis on Lindsay’s cleavage will surely be the attraction of any man.
The costume chosen for her had a light brown hue, accentuating her gentle atmosphere, with green as its base. Compared to Liz’s outfit, her cleavage was more pronounced, and the flowing short skirt, along with the translucent veil cascading from her shoulders to her waist, completed the look.
Most importantly, both of them had great figures, and their toned abs accentuated their curves and showed off their body lines, radiating allure.
Let me sum it up in one sentence. Erotic.
“Yes!! This is a visual feast!!” (Alfred)
Alfred was as lively as ever, raising both hands in excitement and striking a victory pose, behaving like a child who had just entered puberty.
“This is wonderful. With the two of you, this year’s carnival is sure to be a hit.” (Armando)
Armando-san was surprised that it suited him better than he expected, his eyes widening a little. There was nothing unpleasant about it, and he maintained his gentlemanly presence.
“How about it, you two? I would definitely like to—” (Armando)
Liz and Lindsay exchanged glances again. Then, Liz crossed her arms and began to ponder a bit, while Lindsay furrowed her brow and closed her eyes. Suddenly, Lindsay looked at me and asked.
“What do you think, Jack?” (Lindsay)
“Huh?!” (Jack)
I was flustered when Lindsay, in an outfit I had never seen before, asked for my opinion.
“Uh, um, you both look really beautiful, and it suits you!” (Jack)
“Really? Thanks… um, then I’ll do it.” (Lindsay)
If that’s the case, it seemed Lindsay had resolved to accept it.
“If Lindsay’s doing it, then I’ll do it too.” (Lizbeth)
Liz followed suit.
The two women of Liberta had accepted the role of dancers for the carnival. Later, the two dancers in blue and green would become a hot topic after the carnival, boasting unparalleled popularity among the dancers of all time, but that’s another story.
“Thank you! Then I’ll start the detailed arrangements right away with the lady at the office in the back—” (Armando)
“Wait a minute. But I’m not as good at magic manipulation as Lindsay.” (Liz)
At that, Liz voiced a concern.
“When it comes to magic manipulation, it’s fine if it’s just the level of spreading fire or water around during the performance.” (Armando)
“Ah, I think I could manage that level.” (Liz)
“Oh, and I’ve never danced before.” (Lindsay)
Lindsay added further.
“You’ll be fine. A dedicated instructor will be with you. It’s someone who was a veteran dancer in the past, so you should improve quickly.” (Armando)
“Hmm… I’m not confident, but I guess I have to do my best.” (Lindsay)
Lindsay had become positive about accepting this request.
How reliable women can be.
As I cried tears of joy at seeing the two in revealing outfits, my red-haired leader was ecstatic.
“So, what will you be doing, Alfred?” (Liz)
Liz suddenly asked. Unlike earlier, when she was shy in an unfamiliar costume, she was back to her usual self.
“Huh? Me?…” (Alfred)
“Don’t tell me you’re going to have us do this while you sit back and do nothing!” (Liz)
“N-No, that’s not it at all!” (Alfred)
“Sounds suspicious. You need to say exactly what you’re going to do.” (Liz)
Alfred appeared to be sweating a bit nervously.
It was suspicious to anyone.
“It’s obviously a new business venture! With Jack!” (Alfred)
“Huh? With me?!” (Jack)
Alfred forcibly linked his arm with mine, grinning exaggeratedly.
“Don’t make Jack do anything weird.” (Lindsay)
“I’ll be fine! Trust me!” (Alfred)
Alfred had already failed a few times regarding me, so there was that. Lindsay was looking at him with suspicion. Seeing that, Alfred hastily added.
“I have to redeem my name after the last time! Besides, if all of you go to work, someone needs to watch Jack while you’re gone.” (Alfred)
“Well, that’s true.” (Lindsay)
With a final chance to convince, Lindsay nodded. I had a bad feeling about it, but the warriors of Liberta, who normally faced battles, were participating in the festival this time. I too would have to do my best to not let my fellow comrades down.
Let’s do our best to earn some money!
