School Festival (4): Newspaper Receives Positive Reviews
(Thank you for reading at bayabuscotranslation.com)
It was an entirely unexpected turn of events during the early morning tea party, but we couldn’t relax for long. It was the second day of the school festival. Once the gates opened, many people would come again.
“I usually prepare so that we can talk more leisurely, but…” (Rinkert)
Rinkert-san said apologetically while glancing at Follet-san, who was the prince’s younger brother.
Noticing that glance, Follet-san said.
“No, I feel sorry for Rinkert-san for accommodating my schedule. However, if I may make one excuse, I never expected a first-year team to put on an exhibition.” (Follet)
According to Lamie-senpai, who explained to us, it was not that it didn’t happen, but it was rare for first-year students holding exhibitions. First-year students usually enjoyed the festival as guests, and only after saying, “I want to do something like this next year”, did they finally take action.
Follet-san, who came to greet every year, understood the system of the school festival well, which was why we, as first-years, chose this day under the preconception that we would be free anyway, but we were wonderfully proven wrong. So, we had to return before the gates opened, and the conversation became a race against time.
Of course, there was the option of letting Maria, Hana, Rick-san, and Lite and Lev handle things while we continued the tea party. But, that just didn’t feel right.
Together with Lamie-senpai, who was leaving the western-style building with us, we bid farewell to Follet-san. It seemed that Follet-san has to return to the capital for state affairs.
“I hope to see you again someday. Specifically, at next year’s school festival, see you then.” (Follet-san)
Follet-san said.
“By then, Maria and everyone will come with us. Please take care of us after the gates open.” (Heinz)
Heinz replied, making everyone smiled wryly.

Since Ratt-kun and Frank took charge of the newspaper exhibition reception in the early morning, we moved to the old school building’s library with the members who couldn’t attend the morning tea party to share what had happened.
Although the old school building is designated as an area off-limits during the school festival, the old building, originally used as a storage place for supplies, allowed access for people involved, and not just us. That said, there was little traffic during the festival, so we could comfortably discuss secret matters.
“I can’t believe Follet-sama is here…” (Maria)
Maria exclaimed in surprise.
She had seen Follet-san at public events and parties attended by nobles a few times, but she said she had never spoken to him directly.
“I’m surprised by the Princess’ younger brother, but I’m also surprised that Rinkert-san was the chairman, degozaru.” (Hana)
Hana said.
As Hana said, although we witnessed it at the opening greeting of the festival, hearing the fact directly from the person makes it felt different.
“Does that mean Rinkert-san knew that Heinz-kun is a prominent person from a neighboring country?” (Rick-san)
Rick-san pointed out an interesting detail.
“That’s right. I only met the vice chairman when I enrolled, so I was quite surprised…” (Heinz)
Even Heinz couldn’t imagine the true identity of Rinkert-san.
Well, that makes sense.
“Oh, that’s right. So naturally, Rinkert-san knew about Lite and Lev too. He said it’s okay to bring them next time.” (Lux)
We had been keeping our promise to Rinkert-san, so we had never taken Lite and Lev, who hadn’t received permission, to the western-style building. However, both of them had been informed about the existence of the western-style building early on, specifically before Heinz’s identity was revealed to us.
“I see. Then, I’m looking forward to it. Well, what I’m most curious about from the current discussion is Lamie-senpai.” (Lite)
Lite said, and Lev nodded.
I understand Lite’s feelings. I talked with Heinz before, but that person really has an unfathomable side to him.
After the report was finished, we headed back to the new school building. We needed to switch with Ratt-kun and the others soon.
While chatting, as we entered the library in the new school building, Ratt-kun hurriedly ran up to us.
“It’s bad! Everyone is looking at the newspaper!” (Ratt)
“If they’re looking at it, that’s good, isn’t it?” (Heinz)
Heinz tilted his head slightly.
“But we’re completely out of copies! Since this morning, many students who have stalls have come and taken them to distribute at their stores! We have no stock left here!” (Ratt)
“No way!? We printed 1,000 copies!” (Sonia)
Sonia exclaimed in surprise.
According to the students with stalls, the exhibition map and other items we had imagined were more popular than expected, and since it was free, almost everyone who used the stalls took one. Moreover, while popular stalls did form lines, it seemed they were also handy for passing the time. It was a pleasant surprise that the newspaper we worked hard on had become so popular, but I never thought it would be this well-received.
“What should we do!?” (Ratt)
Ratt-kun exclaimed in a panic, and from behind him, a librarian in the library called out.
“Excuse me for a moment.” (Librarian)
This librarian has been quite helpful, having borrowed the key to the old school building and printed this newspaper for us.
“I just received a call from the school’s office. It seems that the vice chairman heard about how well-received your newspaper is. Considering the content, it would give the school a good reputation, so they said it’s okay to print more at the school’s expense. Since I just heard what you said, this is perfect. If a few people can help, I can print more starting now.” (Librarian)
At just the right moment, a helping hand was extended. We immediately agreed to this.
For now, Ratt-kun and Frank had been serving as guides up to this point, so they took a break. As planned, Lev and I stayed on as guides while the other members rushed to help the librarian with the additional printing.
Once everyone left, the exhibition space suddenly became quiet.
Even though the newspaper was popular, most of it is being distributed at outdoor stalls, so the exhibition space itself only saw a few visitors trickling in. The commotion of the students who came to replenish the newspapers must have been from shortly after the gates opened. Currently, a single guest was leisurely gazing at the newspaper of Slar-san.
I found myself observing that guest.
She wore checkered skinny pants and a white blouse, exuding a stylish older sister vibe. She had a somewhat reminiscent atmosphere of Rita-san. After browsing the newspaper for a while, the woman noticed my gaze and smiled charmingly at me. Feeling awkward from being caught staring, I awkwardly bowed my head. Then, she walked straight towards me.
As I wondered what was happening, she quickly approached my face and whispered in my ear.
“Thank you for bringing my newspaper back to life.” (Slar)
As I was surprised and tried to get a good look at that Onee-san’s face, but no, Slar-san, turned briskly away and walked off, waving her hand without looking back as she exited the library.
