Eibar Weir Dehaubalz’s Perspective*

“Really… Truly, an useless guy.” (Eibar)

I ordered the chamberlains and everyone else to stand down, and I stood alone in the audience chamber, clutching my temples and shaking my head.

The cause of this headache is the useless Wilfred, who was defeated by the third prince Harold. Moreover, even though I gave him five legendary weapons from the mythological era. On the other hand, Harold, for some reason, only has a shabby shield that seems to be everywhere. However, that shield demonstrated the ability to completely absorb the attacks from the legendary weapons, and it didn’t even receive a scratch.

I have never heard from that man, ‘Ulysse’, that such a shield existed in this world.

“But… this changes things…” (Eibar)

Of course, there is no way I would doubt ‘Ulysse’. The reason I reign as the king of Dehaubalz is entirely thanks to that man.

The first encounter with “Ulysse” was on the battlefield of the Capetien Kingdom, when the six of us brothers were competing for the throne, including myself.

At that time, I was in a delicate position as the Fourth Prince, while the First, Second, and Third Princes were secretly battling for the position of the next king, and I, who had no power at all, was always feeling restless. At the very least, it was clear that I was superior to the other five brothers. It was just that… what I lacked was someone willing to support me.

Sadly, unlike the First Queen, who was of foreign royal descent, and the Second Queen, who belonged to the Marshall Household, a noble family next to the Chevalier Household, my mother, the Third Queen, was merely the daughter of a lowly viscount household, who only became queen out of pity.

My mother always fawned over the First and Second Queens with excessive subservience, desperately trying to secure a place for herself in the royal court. Perhaps because of that, the attitude of the palace staff toward me was harsh, and it was I who was rather expelled from my place. However… in those gloomy days, a turning point arrived.

In a battle against the Capetien Kingdom, the number of times I fought became uncountable, and at the age of 15, I was appointed as a commander and went to the battlefield. The First, Second, and Third Princes were still embroiled in the struggle for succession and could not leave the royal palace, so none of them participated in the war.

Looking back now, I can only be grateful that those fools made such choices, for it is why I am here now. And then…

“I will surely lead you to victory and make you the king of Dehaubalz.” (Ulysse)

A boy of about my age said this with an innocent smile, carrying weapons I had never seen before in the kingdom and gave them to me. After that, I achieved victory after victory on the battlefield.

Of course. The weapons brought to me by ‘Ulysse’ were legendary weapons appearing in myths. However, war cannot be won by individual strength alone. Even if I alone achieve victory, it would be meaningless if others are defeated.

Moreover, the Capetien Kingdom had a prince who was cunning, who succeeded the throne after the king fell ill, Salomon Lambert Salomon de Capetien. He deliberately avoided my troops, attacking the other troops with a mixture of solid and crafty tactics, continuously achieving victories. In such a case, to drag on the war would be the work of the incompetent.

I unilaterally concluded a truce with the prince… no, with Salomon, who ascended the throne, and hurried back to Dehaubalz. I informed the soldiers that ‘this defeat was caused by the useless king and the good-for-nothing princes who were preoccupied with power struggles’.

And then… I buried the king and the royal family in darkness. My real mother, my brothers, everyone. It was quite easy. After all, I possessed the legendary weapon given to me by ‘Ulysse’… the ‘Underworld Great Cauldron Dagza’. I only needed to use this to send all unnecessary individuals straight to the Underworld.

“Hahaha, that was easy, wasn’t it?” (Eibar)

I must have had a hideous face at that time. However, it was undoubtedly better than the devilish smile of ‘Ulysse’.

“Please don’t say that. I was also surprised by Harold-kun… you know.” (Ulysse)

“…” (Eibar)

Suddenly, as “Ulysse” appeared in front of me, I sent him a glare.

That guy must have been watching my state somewhere, including the murmur I let slip earlier.  Truly, I suppose ‘Ulysse’ is what you would call an unfathomable guy. After all, this man hasn’t changed at all since that day twenty years ago…

“So, will you really achieve your goal in a year?” (Eibar)

“Leave it to me. All preparations are already complete for that purpose.” (Ulysse)

“Hmm…” (Eibar)

The secret pact I made with ‘Ulysse’.

By raising Wilfred to be ‘the king who rules this world’, I would receive my reward.

That is…

“Fuhahaha… I am looking forward to the time when we reach God.” (Eibar)

I looked up at the ceiling… at the heavens and smirked.
