Oran Knight is out (1/3 chapters for today)
Modest Noble Tea Party (3): Saxon Is Praised
(Thank you for reading at bayabuscotranslation.com)
Thanks to Saxon’s unexpected actions, the atmosphere slightly eased at the noble tea party planned by Maria and Sonia. Gellar, who seemed thinking over what Saxon had told him, was nibbling on Noris’s cookies little by little.
Suddenly, the thought of the secret room we’re searching for crossed my mind. Just now, Gellar, who had said there was no way to live other than through war, had been thoroughly rebutted by Saxon. Previously, Saxon had said he wanted to achieve military accomplishments in the war and leave his family behind as soon as possible.
Roy-kun, who wasn’t concerned about it, was under excessive expectations from his family, who hoped to use him as a catalyst for their prosperity. Here, there were people who, for various reasons, might even wish for war.
So, I thought I’d ask.
“What… what would you do if the war ended? Would you be troubled?” (Lux)
That was how I asked them.
Roy-kun answered immediately.
“Nah, I wouldn’t be troubled at all. Why?” (Roy)
He immediately replied.
“What about you, Saxon?” (Lux)
“Huh? I’ve told you before. I’ll rise in the military and leave my family. That hasn’t changed.” (Saxon)
“If the war ends, won’t the military be abolished?” (Lux)
“Idiot. The military might temporarily shrink, but it won’t be abolished. It’s not just Solar or Remnos. There are countries beyond the mountains. Even now, there are those waiting for Rozan and Solar to destroy each other, licking their lips. The only thing that will change is the target of our vigilance.” (Saxon)
“I see… You’ve thought about a lot of things, haven’t you, Saxon? I’ve gained a bit of respect for you.” (Lux)
“Oh, what a coincidence. I’m just stunned by how low your opinion of me is.” (Saxon)
After this exchange, I turned to Gellar.
“I… I don’t really know right now…” (Gellar)
“That’s understandable. Well, it’s just a hypothetical, so don’t stress about it too much.” (Lux)
I replied.
“Is the difficult conversation over?” (Noris)
Noris peeked out from the kitchen, perfectly timing her entry.
She had always been good at reading the room, ever since she lived in the southern village. In Noris’s hands were a roll cake and a pot of fresh tea. Taking that as a cue, we decided that the difficult conversation was over. The rest of the time passed as we each suggested ideas for Gellar’s new hobby.
“Well, shall we head home soon? Noris-chan, thank you for the snacks! Everything was delicious!” (Sonia)
Sonia stood up and tried to help clean up, but Noris gently declined, saying she would take care of it. As we were leaving through the entrance, Noris exchanged a few words with each of us to see us off.
Saxon, who was in front of me, said.
“The snacks were delicious… And… um…” (Saxon)
He hesitated awkwardly, which was rare for him, but Noris approached and whispered in his ear.
“Saxon-san, you were really cool earlier.” (Noris)
She said it quietly, so that those who had already left couldn’t hear.
“O-Oh…” Saxon was clearly flustered. (Saxon)
“Please come again!” (Noris)
Noris added, and Saxon stumbled out, saying “Oh”, as he left.
“Make sure you don’t get lost on your way home, Onii-chan!” (Noris)
She said, throwing in one last unnecessary remark as she saw us off.
I had gotten lost during the Starry Night Festival, so I’ll accept her words without complaint.
It was right after we all left Rita-san’s house. I felt an odd gaze and discreetly scanned the area. Hidden in the shadow of the trees lining the street were… 1-A’s Knight (Ritter), Mogi. There were a few others, probably the group I saw in 1-A’s classroom. And then…
“Wait a minute.” (Lux)
I stopped everyone just as they were about to go their separate ways, and I readied my slingshot to communicate my intention.
“All right, on 1, 2, 3, got it?” (Lux)
“Damn, to think I’d be taking orders from you…” (Saxon)
Saxon grumbled, but he got ready.
“1, 2, 3, GO!” (Lux)
With the signal, I fired three shots from the slingshot towards Mogi and his group. Mogi and his group, who had been hiding behind the bushes, were startled and fell back, landing on their butts with their hands on the ground. Behind them, three suspiciously dressed men who had been approaching Mogi were hit in the face by my shots, and they let out a “Gah!”. Seizing that moment, Saxon, Roy-kun, and Sonia rushed in and quickly subdued the three men.
“Let go! Let me go!” (??)
The men struggled, but Saxon kicked each one in turn, making them settle down.
Mogi and his group, who had been watching the whole thing, remained sitting in shock, staring at the three suspicious men who had been restrained. I approached them and asked.
“If I’m mistaken, I apologize, but those men aren’t your acquaintances, right?” (Lux)
Mogi shook his head furiously, denying it, as if he had forgotten how to speak.
“Ah, good. It looked like they were targeting you, or rather, you as a noble. We’ve restrained them for now. I’m glad you’re safe.” (Lux)
Hearing this, Mogi, who was still unable to speak, nodded repeatedly.
While we were restraining the suspicious men, Maria and Gellar went to the main street to call the guards. The soldiers arrived quickly and took the three men away. While we couldn’t say anything for sure without an investigation, judging by Mogi’s fine clothes, they likely intended to kidnap him. Even though there was a bit of excitement at the end, the tea party came to a close like this.

*Later Diary*
Today wasn’t particularly eventful, but it’s always nice to have a peaceful day.
There was one thing I learned through Maria about the suspicious men we caught at the tea party, thanks to Sebas-san’s investigation.
As expected, the three men had aimed to kidnap Mogi. They weren’t locals, and when they spotted a well-dressed child while wandering around, they decided he “would bring in money”.
Apparently, Mogi and his group had been following us and anxiously watching from a quiet residential area while we were having our tea party. I’m not sure unless I ask him directly, but it seems he was worried that Gellar might report the harassment he had done to the daughter of Bell Household or the son of Paradi Household.
If that’s the case, he shouldn’t have done it in the first place.
Also, today, as I left the classroom, I saw Gellar walking with some of our classmates from 1-A, chatting cheerfully.
Perhaps what Saxon said at the tea party moved Gellar’s heart, even just a little.
Feeling a bit warm inside, I decided to write this in my diary.
