Circus (1): Noris and Saxon

The audience was overwhelmed even before it began, as waves of percussion and metallic sounds wash over their bodies. It felt as if the sound was massaging their entire being. We were all standing inside an enormous tent built on the outskirts of Rodon City with our mouths wide open in amazement.

In front of us stood a massive creature with a long nose. It slowly walked past us, its huge body something even I, Lux, had never hunted before. And then it roared, “Booooooooooo”, as if to drown out the sound waves. As if that wasn’t surprising enough, the giant creature placed its front legs on a pedestal and slowly began to do a handstand, leaving us completely stunned.

Right now, we were watching the circus with the tickets we received from Lamie-senpai.

The morning when Bianca told me about our companions.

“It’s rare for Saxon to come with us.” (Lux)

When I heard the names of the classmates Bianca had invited, I said that honestly.

“What, do you have a problem with that?” (Saxon)

Apparently, Saxon was right behind me, and he pouted.

When Bianca arrived in the classroom that morning, Saxon, who was there early as usual, stopped her to ask what she had been up to, as she had been spending a lot of time with me recently. On the day of the circus, when I arrived at the meeting place, Saxon, Roy-kun, and Maria, all noble classmates, were already there. Nearby, Sebas was standing calmly. At first glance, it seemed like just a group of slightly well-dressed kids but considering that two of them were the children of the nation’s great nobles, it felt somewhat amusing.

“Sorry, did we keep you waiting?” (Heinz)

Heinz, who represented the dorm members, asked.

“No, we just came early. Rick-san, Hana, and Noris-chan haven’t arrived yet.” (Maria)

“Hey, Saxon, Roy-kun.” (Lux)

I greeted, lightly raising my hand.

“Hey.” (Saxon)

“Hey, I heard you got these tickets from Lavitomivia-senpai? Thanks for inviting me.” (Roy)

Each gave a reply fitting their personalities.

A little while later, Rick-san and Hana arrived with Noris in tow.

“Oh, everyone’s early. Sorry to keep you waiting.” (Rick)

Rick-san said in his usual laid-back tone, which was surprising given his tendency to be relaxed about time. Popping out from behind him was Noris.

“Maria-chan, Sonia-neechan, it’s been so long!” (Noris)

The two girls reunited for the first time since summer vacation, squealing with joy. Then, Noris turned to face Saxon, Roy-kun, Bianca, Lite, and Lev.

“Hello, everyone! This is our first time meeting, right? I’m Lux’s little sister, Fort Noris. Nice to meet you!” (Noris)

With a sunflower-like smile, she introduced herself.

“Hey, nice to meet you. I’m Roy. Lux has been a great help to me.” (Roy)

“Hmm, you don’t look much like Lux! I’m Rival Lite!” (Lite)

Striking a pose, Lite pointed his thumb at himself.

“She’s adorable… oh, sorry. I’m Rival Lev. Nice to meet you.” (Lev)

“For Lux to have such a cute little sister… and for her to be doted on by Lamie-senpai… grr.” (Bianca)

Bianca, please stop linking everything back to Lamie-senpai. You’re confusing Noris.

“…” (Saxon)

Meanwhile, one boy was silently staring at Noris in a daze.

“Saxon? What’s wrong?” Bianca asked with a puzzled expression, snapping Saxon out of it.

“Oh, n-nothing! I’m Saxon, Zedra Saxon!” (Saxon)

For some reason, he seemed flustered.

“Saxon-san, is it? Nice to meet you!” (Noris)

When Noris greeted him again, Saxon quietly replied like a cat with its claws retracted.

“Y-yeah, nice to meet you too.” (Saxon)

Watching that, Sonia gave Bianca a playful nudge, both of them grinning as if they had caught on to something.

…I don’t really get it, but I’m just glad that Noris seems to be getting along well with everyone.
