A Scene at the Club

*Today’s Diary*
The day after Nork-san, Lamie-senpai’s uncle, who came like a storm, had left. Today was the day of the club’s regular meeting.
Thanks to the fact that the uproar from yesterday had settled down, Lamie-senpai introduced Saras-senpai to Nork-san, and I could face today without worry.
The soldier named Zel, who had recommended the assassin who was targeting us to Nork-san, had already disappeared by the time they went to detain him.
As for their intentions and detailed information, they said they would get it out of the captured assassin, and they promised to let us know later. So, for now, all we can do is wait.
—
“And that’s what happened. It was really tough.” (Lux)
Even though it was still a bit hot, as usual, we were eating lunch together in the courtyard, with Lite and Lev joining us.
For the first time, I told the members of Team Catrap what happened up until yesterday. That’s because Lamie-senpai asked me to refrain from talking about it until the situation became clear. Now that it was somewhat resolved, I was allowed to share it, so I was explaining it to everyone. Of course, I left out the part about Saras-senpai’s engagement.
After finishing my story, Hana and Heinz both let out deep sighs.
“Lux-dono, truly, whenever we take our eyes off you, nothing good ever happens, degozaru.” (Hana)
“Exactly.” (Heinz)
They both said something rather rude. It’s not like I got involved on purpose…
“But there will be another reward from Lamie-senpai, right? I hope it’s a voucher for Todd’s shop.” (Ratt)
“It might be from Todd’s shop, but this time there might not be any for you, Ratt-kun. You didn’t do anything, after all.” (Frank)
Frank pointed out the obvious.
“Lux-kun, if it’s from Todd’s shop, please share it with me~.” (Ratt)
Ratt-kun clasped her hands together and begged.
“That aside, I’m curious about that assassin… Were they really targeting Nork-san?” (Rick)
Rick-san muttered, looking troubled.
“It seems weird to target him here at the academy, doesn’t it?” (Lite)
Lite raised an objection to Rick-san.
Yeah, I feel the same as Lev. If they really wanted to target him, it would’ve been easier to stage an ‘accident’ during his journey rather than going all the way to the academy. But I suppose we won’t know the truth until a bit later.
“So that means we won’t have to keep making trips to the Military Building anymore, right?” (Maria)
Maria asked with a smile. Sonia, next to her, also seemed in a good mood for some reason.
“Yeah, I’d rather not deal with troublesome things like that for a while.” (Lux)
I responded with a wry smile.
In the corner of my vision, I noticed Lev, quietly listening to our lively conversation.
While Lite actively joined in, Lef always stayed a bit reserved like this. Even though they were twins, it was surprising how different they were.
“That said, we all still have to go to the Military Building today for the regular club meeting.” (Frank)
Frank pointed that out.
“It’s the first time for Lev and I, so I’m looking forward to it. Rick-san, can you show us around?” (Lite)
“Of course. Leave it to me.” (Rick)
Lite exchanged words with Rick-san, who was in the same specialty class.
With that, our lunch, as always, passed by with lively chatter.
—
Just before the meeting, I arrived a bit early at the Military Building with Bianca, and we headed to the circle leader’s room where Lamie-senpai and Saras-senpai were waiting.
“Excuse me.” (Lux)
I knocked and entered the room. As usual, Lamie-senpai greeted us, resting her chin on her hands on the table, and Saras-senpai began preparing tea for us.
“Sorry about yesterday. Let me thank you once again.” (Lamie)
After helping Saras-senpai, we sat down, and Lamie-senpai bowed her head.
“No, the one who really played the biggest role was Saras-senpai…” (Lux)
“That’s not true. If Lux hadn’t noticed, we might have faced the worst-case scenario. I owe you my thanks as well.” (Saras)
Saras-senpai also bowed his head, leaving me feeling incredibly humbled.
After such exchanges, we finally got to the main topic.
“And as a token of gratitude, I’ve prepared this. Please, everyone, feel free to use it.” (Lamie)
What I was handed was some sort of ticket. The ticket had silhouettes of various animals dancing on it. Bianca, who peeked at it from beside me, let out a small “Ah!”.
“Is this… the ticket for the upcoming circus, by any chance?” (Bianca)
“That’s right. Of course, Bianca, you should enjoy it as well. I’ve prepared enough tickets, so bring your friends and have fun.” (Lamie)
A circus… I’ve heard rumors about it, but I’ve never seen one.
Gratefully accepting the tickets, I expressed my thanks to Lamie-senpai. The circus would be here in three days. I should invite everyone to go together during the next break.
In the meeting that followed, there were no particularly important matters, and things proceeded smoothly. By the time we reached the second half of the meeting, where we were going through simple administrative announcements, I had completely let my guard down. I was probably too distracted, daydreaming about the yet-to-come circus, that enchanting event I had never seen before.
“Lux, are you spacing out? You okay?” (Lamie)
As Lamie-senpai called out to me like that, I unintentionally let out the “results” of the past few days and said,
“Ah, I’m fine, Lamie.” (Lux)
The entire room froze.
—
After the meeting, Bianca was unusually holding her stomach, laughing.
All I could manage, with my face bright red, was, “Please give me a break already”.
Somehow, with the help of Lamie-senpai and Saras-senpai, we managed to smooth things over (?), but I feel like a few of the snipers definitely started seeing me as ‘the guy who called Lavitomivia-senpai by name’. What a blunder.
As I exited the Military Building, I saw Sonia waiting for us, and Bianca was eagerly telling her the whole exchange from earlier, in a fun and playful way. I really wanted them to stop. Seeing the right moment, I cut into their conversation and said,
“Forget about that! Look, Sonia, we got circus tickets from Lamie-senpai! Let’s all go together!” (Lux)
I purposely raised my voice to shift the topic to the circus.
“The circus! Wow! It came to my town when I was little, but this will be the first time I properly watch one! But, are you sure? Aren’t those valuable tickets?” (Sonia)
“It’s fine! Lamie-senpai gave us plenty! Let’s all go together on the next break!” (Lux)
“Yay! Yes! Let’s definitely go!” (Sonia)
With that, the topic changed to the circus, and I secretly sighed in relief.
“I’m planning to invite everyone from Catrap and my sister, Noris. If there’s anyone you want to invite, Bianca, feel free to.” (Lux)
“Got it. I’ll ask tomorrow. How many tickets do we have left?” (Bianca)
“Um, if everyone on my side goes, there’ll be about two or three left. Will that be enough for your group, Bianca? Should I skip inviting my sister?” (Lux)
“No, invite her. I’m not directly involved in all this, so this number of tickets is fine for me.” (Bianca)
Since she said that, I gratefully took her up on the offer.
“Alright, once we know who’s going tomorrow, I’ll let you know.” (Lux)
With those words, I parted ways with Bianca for the day.
—
The next day.
“Hey, Lux! Saxon and Roy are coming with us!” (Bianca)
Bianca cheerfully told me.
Huh? I mean, that’s fine… but how did that happen?
