**Today’s Diary**

A lot happened today and I’m tired.

Looking back at my diary like this, it feels like there are many times when I’m tired from various things.

The main characters today aren’t me. It’s Lamie-senpai and Saras-senpai.

“Lux, could you pretend to be my lover for a bit?” (Lamie)

Bianca freezes at Lamie-senpai’s words. Here was inside the room of the club leader in the Military Building. There were only me, Lamie-senpai, Bianca, and Saras-senpai.

I had just finished a training that felt like a duel with Bianca, and I was taking a breather in the room. A duel with Bianca required an instructor’s supervision, which was troublesome. I wouldfeel sorry for the instructor, so under the pretense of joint practice with Lamie-senpai and Saras-senpai, we conducted several mock battles.

Even when Bianca returned home during the summer vacation, she didn’t neglect her training. As expected from a family involved in the military, her growth was remarkable. Since the outcome this time was my overwhelming victory, I didn’t tell her, as it would be too spiteful.

Just when the four of us came back together and were about to take a break in the room, Lamie-senpai made the earlier remark.

“Lamie-senpai… what are you?” (Bianca)

Of course, the one who bit on the question, trembling, wasn’t me, but Bianca.

“What do you mean, it’s just as I said.” (Lamie)

Lamie-senpai responded simply.

“Uh, what does that mean?” (Lux)

I asked.

“It’s just as I said. And I want you to dump me.” (lux)

Hmm. I don’t understand what she’s saying.

“Ah, Lux, I’ll explain that part.”

Saras-senpai, who was making tea, said so. He joined in the conversation while handing out cups to everyone.

“Saras-senpai, you know about this?” (Lux)

“Well, yeah, I know about it, or rather, how should I say…” (Saras)

Saras-senpai was unusually hesitant. Then, Lamie-senpai quickly jumped in.

“Saras and I have pledged our futures to one another.” (Lamie)

“The future!?” (Bianca)

“Yes, but my uncle is coming to stop it.” (Lamie)

“Your uncle!?” (Bianca)

“That’s why I want you to act as my lover.” (Lamie)

“Why!?” (Bianca)

The one who was inserting reactions and receiving shocks throughout this exchange wasn’t me, of course. It was Bianca.

Bianca, go over there for a bit, you’re being noisy. I’ll give you candy.

Lamie-senpai also scolded Bianca, saying, “Bianca, be quiet for a bit”, and she quieted down. She looked like a scolded loyal dog.

Since Bianca had quieted down, I decided to listen to the details first.

Lamie-senpai’s family, the Via Household, was a famous noble household referred to as “old warriors”. They had contributed to the country with their military force long before the military nobles rose to power. Therefore, unlike the emerging military nobles, they had been treated with respect even by the Five Great Noble households.

On the other hand, from the perspective of the military nobles, it wouldn’t be an exaggeration to say that if they could bring the Via Household to their side, they could finally dominate the military. Therefore, they were treated with utmost care.

“Well, I have no intention to side with either. We’ve kept our distance from the Five Great Nobles since ancient times.” (Lamie)

However, aside from the main branch of Lamie-senpai’s family, some relatives felt anxious, saying, “The Via Household is being left behind in the conflict between the Five Great Nobles and the military nobles. What will happen to the Via Household once the conflict is resolved?”.

“One of those people is Uncle Nork, who will be coming to the academy soon.”

Uncle Nork was the younger brother of Lamie-senpai’s father, who was the head of the Via Household, a household that valued independence.

One of the people concerned about the future of the Via Household was Uncle Nork. This Uncle Nork didn’t have any bad intentions, but he was the type to stick his nose into unnecessary things, and he was very eager about finding Lamie-senpai’s future husband. He was said to be breathing heavily when saying, “Leave it to me! I’ll find a good match!”.

Although being a nuisance was a good thing, what made Uncle Nork so troublesome was that he was not just a nuisance. The marriage proposals he brought up, when considering the future of the Via Household, weren’t entirely bad suggestions.

By the way, Lamie-senpai had already talked to her parents about Saras-senpai, and since her two brothers were firmly protecting the family, there hadn’t been any major opposition from her family.

“Um, may I ask something?” (Bianca)

Bianca timidly raised her hand. After receiving Lamie-senpai’s permission, she spoke.

“Excuse me, but Saras-senpai’s family isn’t nobility, right? I’m surprised your parents were convinced.” (Bianca)

“Ah, that’s what you’re wondering about. It’s true that Saras isn’t from a noble household, but our family has a history of bringing in capable individuals to strengthen ourselves. In that regard, Saras is exceptional. He won the recent competition, and it’s already been decided that he’ll be promoted to major after graduation.” (Lamie)

So, it was Saras-senpai’s team that won the previous competition. When I showed my surprise, Bianca looked puzzled.

“Wait, Lux, didn’t you listen to the commentary during the finals?” (Bianca)

Actually, even though there were several days until the final match, I was still basking in the glory of our own victory at the time. I was so spaced out that I let the commentary go in one ear and out the other.

“But, it’s the first time I’ve heard about Saras-senpai receiving a major’s rank. That’s only given to someone truly exceptional…” (Lux)

“Indeed. That’s how remarkable my Saras is. It’s not just favoritism; his contribution was a major factor in the victory. Plus, he also has the achievement of coming in second place last year.” (Lamie)

Out of curiosity, I casually asked.

“How did Lamie-senpai’s team do?” (Lux)

Lamie-senpai made a slightly troubled face.

“My team had a tough time. It’s mostly because of me…” (Lamie)

“Because of you, Lamie-senpai?” Saras-senpai answered my question.

“It’s not entirely Lamie’s fault. You see, while Lamie is a noble, she’s also a sniper, right? And the problem is that, among the nobles in her class, the Via Household has the highest rank.” (Saras)

Ah, I see. That must make it difficult for the Knight (Ritter) on her team to manage.

“On top of that, as you know, Lamie’s skills are extraordinary. Not to mention, she has charisma.” (Saras)

“Ah, I kind of get it now.” (Lux)

Though Saras-senpai was still speaking, I began to understand that when a team had two leaders, things could get awkward.

“And that’s also one of the reasons I want you to play the role of my lover.” (Lamie)

It felt like the conversation jumped quite a bit, so I tilted my head in confusion again.

“Lamie, that’s skipping too much.” (Saras)

Saras-senpai corrected her.

Watching the way they smoothly worked together, I thought these two really make a great pair.
