Thus, the peasant rebellion led by Randal was suppressed thanks to Tyr’s efforts. The Mikanda region was buzzing with excitement over Tyr’s achievements, and the returning group was greeted with loud cheers. While the people in the domain were celebrating every day, rejoicing over the emergence of a new hero from Mikanda, a heated debate was taking place at the Warden Household’s mansion. The topic of the argument, of course, was about Randal and Laika. Arc was furious that his brother had recklessly taken in the leader of the rebel force.

“It’s not too late even now. Let’s quickly take those two to the capital.” (Arc)

“We’ve already sent different corpses to the capital. If we send the two of them now, it will become clear that we were deceiving the kingdom.” (Tyr)

Arc desperately tried to conceal what his brother had done, but Tyr shook his head and stubbornly refused to listen.

“We’ll take care of it by bribing the kingdom’s officials we have in our pocket. Compared to keeping the leader of the rebel force here in Mikanda, it’s far less risky.” (Arc)

“Arc, I’m surprised that you’re so loyal to the kingdom.” (Tyr)

“It’s not about loyalty. I’m just thinking rationally that the drawbacks of bringing the leader of the rebel force into Mikanda are far too great.” (Arc)

Regarding military matters, it had always been decided between the brothers that the opinion of Tyr, the military officer, would take precedence. However, bringing in the mastermind of the rebel force was no longer a military issue, it was a political one. As the lord, Arc was desperate to somehow stop his brother’s reckless behavior and cover things up so that the government wouldn’t find out. However, Tyr remained stubborn and unyielding. He was not foolish enough to let a big catch slip away.

“Randal and Laika have repelled the punitive forces several times before. And they did it by leading a group of inexperienced peasants! They are undoubtedly exceptional talents. There’s no doubt based on my own eyes and my experience fighting them.” (Tyr)

“This Randal, even though he’s the leader, left the other peasants behind and escaped by himself, right? It’s hard to say he’s very responsible.” (Yanna)

From the side, Yanna chimed in. Yanna was currently still in the third city, focusing on industrialization, but Arc had summoned her due to this emergency. Although Arc had called her, hoping that her influence might somehow persuade Tyr, contrary to his expectations, Yanna had been maintaining a neutral, objective stance throughout. Incidentally, Minerva was not participating in the sibling meeting and was instead in another room, tending to Randal and Laika.

“He started the rebellion to save Laika. His goal was to protect his sister, not to save the peasants. I don’t think he’s irresponsible at all.” (Tyr)

Yanna nodded once and stepped back. Her quick withdrawal only fueled Arc’s frustration further.

“If we’re at a disadvantage, he might just run away with his sister.” (Arc)

When Arc openly disparaged Randal with malice, Tyr, seemingly irritated, continued to argue his case.

“Don’t lump him in with those peasant novices. I’m here, and so are you. Together, we can protect them. That’s why they won’t betray us.” (Tyr)

Their debate was going nowhere. Tyr was prioritizing military strategy, while Arc was focused on political stability. It was only natural that such a discussion would arise, given their differing priorities. As the debate became more of a fruitless argument, their frustration with each other grew.

“Even if the two of them are exceptional, I don’t understand why you would go so far as to bring them here, risking making enemies of the kingdom.” (Arc)

“Listen. From here on out, the Laplace Kingdom is bound to enter a period of turmoil. With the retirement of Zerold I, the poor relationship between the new king, Louis, and the viceroy, Casablanca, and most of all, the ominous behavior of the eldest son, Leo. It would be better to have even one more capable person as we head into turbulent times, wouldn’t it?” (Tyr)

“That’s true, but what if we’re found out? We’d make enemies of all the nobles as enemies of the kingdom.” (Arc)

“That’s why I said we’ve sent a double to the capital and taken all necessary precautions.” (Tyr)

“I’m asking what will happen if we’re found out.” (Arc)

“If by chance—!” (Tyr)

The one whose frustration exploded first was Tyr.

He uncharacteristically raised his voice and slammed the table. Arc and Yanna flinched at the sudden loud noise. Tyr stood up and walked over to the large map hanging in the corner of the room. The map depicted the Mikanda territory in great detail. It was a map currently being made by the Tadont couple. It was intricately crafted, showing details like the terrain’s elevation and the size of the cities. Tyr traced his finger along the mountain range on the map.

“Even if, hypothetically, the kingdom’s million-strong army became our enemy, I believe that I, Randal, and the Warden Household could win in this natural fortress, the Great Mountain Range. I really believe this. It’s not just bravado. I truly believe it.” (Tyr)

Toward the end, he muttered as if talking to himself. As Tyr gradually calmed down, an awkward silence took over the room. Yanna, unable to bear it any longer, went over to Tyr, who was still standing by the map, and guided him back to his seat.

Arc remained silent all the while. This rational young man was not particularly upset about being yelled at. Seeing Tyr looking embarrassed, he thought that Tyr must be reflecting on his actions by now. Arc was reconsidering Tyr’s opinion from the beginning, understanding that his brother felt strongly enough to become emotional. Even without his brotherly bias, Arc believed Tyr to be a soldier capable of objective judgment.

Was there ever a time when he insisted on something so strongly?

After a long silence, Arc finally relented.

“Fine. If you, Tyr-niisan, are that adamant about the military aspect, then I won’t say anything more. Yanna-neesan, are you okay with this?” (Arc)

Yanna nodded immediately. It seemed she had never been as pessimistic as Arc in the first place.

“Thank you. I’m sorry for yelling earlier.” (Tyr)

Tyr stood up and expressed his gratitude and apology. Arc could not let his brother act that way. He quickly stood up and placed a hand on Tyr’s shoulder. As Tyr bowed his head and stepped back, he immediately left the room. Judging by the sound of his footsteps, he seemed to be running from the room to the one where Randal and Laika were. He probably couldn’t contain his excitement to inform them that they had received the lord’s permission.

“It seems this is such a joyous thing for Tyr.” (Yanna)

Yanna said, while patting Arc’s head. It was likely a compliment for Arc for conceding before the sibling quarrel escalated. At least, that’s how Arc took it, and he let her pat his head for a while.

At this moment, was Tyr’s expectation, in welcoming the two, and Arc’s decision, in ultimately granting permission, the right ones? At the very least, it wasn’t a mistake. It would soon be proven right by a major incident that would strike the Laplace Kingdom.
