Summoned by King

Hello, it’s me, Harold. Today, I have some sad news for everyone. Somehow, my training regimen has been increased fivefold. I feel like I’m going to die. I get that Xandra did this with my best interests in mind, right? But I also have limits, and from the knowledge of my previous life, I understand that overwork is definitely not a good thing. So, you know?

“To…today’s training, maybe we could… end it here…?” (Harold)

“No.” (Alexandra)

Yep. Xandra shut me down without a second thought. Damn it.

“While Haru-sama’s physical abilities are already honed to their limits, there are still many areas that need improvement, like anticipating enemy attacks and finding the optimal response based on that. Actually, Haru-sama, you have an extraordinary talent in areas beyond just physical ability.” (Alexandra)

“R-really?” (Harold)

Wait, why am I so happy about this? I always get carried away with this kind of praise, only to end up repeating hellish training…

“Besides… if anything were to happen to you, Haru-sama, I wouldn’t be able to bear it.” (Alexandra)

Okay. I tried to muster the courage to negotiate, but with that one line, I’ve decided to give up.
I mean, Xandra’s sad expression is totally unfair. I could never refuse her.

“Well, leave it to me! No matter the training, I’ll see it through to the end!” (Harold)

“Oh! That’s the Haru-sama I know!” (Alexandra)

I pounded my chest and put on the bravest face I could, and in that moment, Xandra’s face lit up with the most radiant smile.

Damn it, that’s the best.

“Nyahaha… Harold, you’re still as weak as ever when it comes to Xandra…” (Casparleague)

Cas, you’re stating the obvious. Of course, I can’t win against Xandra.

As I glared at Casparleague with exasperation, he just chuckled at me.

“Your Highness Harold. His Majesty the King has summoned you to the audience chamber immediately.” (Monica)

Just as I arrived at the training grounds, Monica greeted me with a respectful bow and delivered the message.

Ugh. I have a really bad feeling about this.

“Monica. Hmm, what’s this about?” (Harold)

“The chamberlain didn’t say, but it’s likely related to the incident with His Highness Cardis.” (Monica)

“Oh, right…” (Harold)

Cardis accepting Wilfred into his faction was originally at the request of King Eibar. So, it makes sense that they would have something to say to me, who opposed it and decided to leave. After all, I did criticize King Eibar’s actions.

“Haru-sama. If His Majesty the King makes any unreasonable demands or imposes any unjust punishment on you, please inform us immediately. In that case, the House of Duke Chevalier will protest to His Majesty.” (Alexandra)

“Wha!? No, it’s okay! Really!” (Harold)

With a sullen expression, Xandra announced her intentions, and I hurried to stop her. If she did that, regardless of the cause or reason, that event could trigger before the main story of ‘Enhaz’ even begins, and at worst, Xandra could be executed.

“Well… if Haru-sama insists, I suppose I have no choice.” (Alexandra)

Though not entirely convinced, Xandra accepted with a pout.

Phew. Since regaining my memories from my past life, I’ve learned that Xandra is unexpectedly fierce and combative. I’ll need to be careful.

“Well then, I’ll return as soon as I’ve met with His Majesty, so please relax in my room until then.” (Harold)

“…Alright.” (Alexandra)

With that, I changed clothes and tidied myself up before heading to the audience chamber where King Eibar awaited.

“The reason I have summoned you is that a delegation from the Baltian Holy Kingdom will be dispatched to our country.” (Eibar)

As I knelt before King Eibar with my head bowed, I inwardly breathed a sigh of relief. I thought I was going to get a scolding about the faction issue, but it seemed to be something entirely different.

The Baltian Holy Kingdom, huh… Even in the world of ‘Engage Hazard,’ religion exists, and the organization that oversees churches worldwide is the Baltian Holy Kingdom.

In the main storyline of ‘Enhaz’, two heroines from the Baltian Holy Kingdom are enrolled as exchange students at the Royal Academy, which serves as the central stage for the story.
One is the saint, ‘Christia Salerno’, and the other is her attendant, the holy knight ‘Carla Delminio’.

Christia, to sum it up in one word, is the quintessential saint with shining golden hair, emerald eyes, and a slightly droopy look in her eyes. Her personality is incredibly devoted and full of compassion, but she’s so slow-paced that she often ends up having conversations with the protagonist and the other heroines that don’t quite connect. Though, of course, there’s more to her than meets the eye.

As for Carla, she’s the quintessential “kukkoro” type heroine. She has long, indigo hair tied up like a shrine maiden’s and similarly colored eyes that reflect a strong will. There’s even an event where she gets captured by the enemy, and of course, it includes the obligatory “Damn it! Just kill me!” line, along with a scene where she’s almost… very nearly… exposed in all the important areas. That scene really left an impression on me.

Oops, this isn’t the time to be thinking about that. I need to focus on what King Eibar is saying.

“So, you summoned us to act as hosts for the delegation from the Holy Kingdom?” (Cardis)

“Indeed. I’m glad you understand quickly.” (Eibar)

King Eibar nodded in satisfaction at Cardis’s question. It seemed like that was the case, but it didn’t seem to concern me much.

They wouldn’t want to disgrace the kingdom by exposing its weaknesses to another country.
Logically, Cardis or Raphael would be chosen as hosts… Wait, then why were Wilfred and I summoned here?

“Normally, I would entrust this to Cardis or Raphael, but since this is purely a goodwill visit, the kingdom does not plan to hold any formal ceremonies. Therefore…” (Eibar)

I have a really bad feeling about this. And King Eibar is looking straight at me. I’m definitely not going to make eye contact.

“…This time, I will entrust Wilfred with the role of host for the delegation.” (Eibar)
