“Inoa-sama! Let’s retreat and regroup.” (Arlay)

Arlay shouted at his lord, who was surrounded and half in a panic. The encirclement of the peasants kept tightening, and the soldiers were falling one after another.

“But, we’re surrounded by peasants. How can we escape…?” (Inoa)

“We have no choice but to break through by force! Come on, draw your sword. We’re charging!” (Arlay)

Arlay, while encouraging the frightened Inoa, also drew his sword and prepared. With his lord, who had no combat experience and was a complete amateur, they would break through the encirclement. It would be quite a burden, but at the very least, he had to get Inoa back safely. If his nephew died in battle against the peasants, he would not be able to face his lord, the Baron of London.

However, on the chaotic battlefield, the flashy clothes that Inoa was wearing, which were very much in the style of a noble, stood out prominently. Wearing gaudy clothes and visibly flustered, clearly unaccustomed to battle, he was unmistakably a noble. Such an unsightly appearance caught the attention of ‘Lightning of the Battlefield’, Laika, who was carefully observing the punitive force surrounding them.

“Hmm. So, the one on that horse is the commander.” (Laika)

Laika squinted her eyes, aiming, and pulled out a dagger from her chest pocket.

“We’re going, Inoa-sama!… Inoa-sama?” (Arlay)

Arlay determined where to charge, steeled himself, and turned back towards Inoa. However, his master was no longer where he had been just a moment ago. Only the horse, now riderless, stood there alone.

When he looked down, Inoa had fallen. His golden armor was stained with the red of blood. A sword was stabbed into his chest. The armor, serving only for appearance and not function, had been deeply pierced. Inoa had died instantly, with a face that looked as if he didn’t know what had happened.

Arlay felt dizzy. He had let his lord die. How could he explain this to the Baron London? However, in any case, he first had to survive. It was unbelievable, but he had no choice but to accept reality. Arlay quickly gathered the remaining soldiers. The soldiers had already been reduced to nearly half their number. Certainly, they were surrounded by peasants, but the punitive force’s soldiers, who were more experienced in battle, were superior. If they could regain their morale and focus on one point, breaking through should be easy.

“Full retreat! Retreat!” (Arlay)

Arlay organized the formation and prepared to break through.

At that moment.

“Hey!” (Laika)

A girl’s voice suddenly called out. Arlay reflexively turned towards the voice directed at him. By the time he realized that the voice belonged to the ‘Lightning of the Battlefield’, a dagger had already pierced his chest. It had cleanly penetrated his hard armor, sliding smoothly into his solar plexus. Arlay fell without a sound.

“Laika has taken down the enemy commander!” (??)

The peasants’ cheers echoed throughout the village.

This decided the outcome. The punitive force, having lost both commanders, was thrown into confusion. They charged into the peasants’ encirclement in disarray and were cut down one by one.

The punitive force should have had the upper hand in skill, but could momentum really be this important? The amateur peasants had become the ones pursuing the punitive force. Among them, Laika continued to throw her daggers. She would take out a dagger from the belt wrapped around her body and throw it at the soldiers. She could easily target the soldiers who showed their backs while fleeing.

A few hours later, the ‘hunt’ by the rebel force was over. The result was a decisive victory for the rebel force. Only a few lucky soldiers of the punitive force managed to escape. All the commanders were taken down, and the weapons and food the punitive force had were thoroughly looted.

The rebel force’s castle was once again filled with cheers as Laika was praised for taking down the enemy commander. Furthermore, since they had captured a large number of weapons and food from the punitive force, the soldiers of the rebel force were all loudly praising Laika, causing a great commotion.

“Nii-chan, I’m back.” (Laika)

Randal was waiting for his sister as she entered the command room triumphantly.

“Oh. Welcome back.” (Randal)

Randal stood up from his chair, patted his sister’s head, and handed her a cloth to wipe off the blood that stained her.

“I had prepared reinforcements just in case, but it seems Laika didn’t need any help.” (Randal)

“Well, you know, there’s no enemy who can match this Laika-sama.” (Laika)

Laika, happy to be praised by her brother, puffed up her chest with pride. In the room where the smiling siblings were talking, the treasured sword and flag they had taken from the commander of the punitive force were displayed as war trophies.
