Tyr

Tyr, the eldest son of the Warden Household, was a soldier.

After declaring that he had no desire to become a merchant, he quickly became independent from the Warden Household. He joined the Royal Army straight from military school, where his overwhelming leadership skills and exceptional combat sense made him a promising young talent. However, he became disillusioned with the reality of people with less talent than him rising through the ranks due to connections, and he retired at the age of just 24. He then returned to the former Warden territory, just before it was attacked.

While his elder sister Yanna was dedicated to the industrialization of the Third Town as a pioneer officer, his younger brother Arc served as the lord, and his younger sister Minerva assisted Arc, Tyr found himself with nothing to do.

Of course, he personally wanted to begin organizing and training the army as soon as possible as a military officer. However, with the Warden Household already using a large amount of money and personnel for the industrialization of the Third Town and the development of the Fourth Town, there wasn’t enough left to allocate for military organization, so it was currently postponed.

That said, he couldn’t just do nothing, so he spent his time researching the region’s defensive weaknesses using maps of the Mikanda region created by the Tadont couple and conducting combat training sessions for adventurers in various cities. He did this while dragging along Urt, who had been dispatched by the Sheeb Order, and Hal, who had followed Tyr from the army out of admiration.

While his younger brother Arc was busy traveling around the region and actively participating in affairs at the capital, Tyr focused on these steady, behind-the-scenes activities. It was understandable that he was suddenly given a rural territory that needed to be developed from scratch, but Tyr was dissatisfied with the current situation of having to engage in such mundane tasks. After all, as a soldier, his true calling and fulfillment lay in leading troops on the battlefield and contributing to victories. Even while performing what seemed like background work, Tyr’s blood longed for the battlefield.

Amidst all this, Tyr received a message from the Order through Urt. This happened sometime after Arc had returned from the Habarov Summons.

“Hey, is that for real?” (Urt)

“Yes, Tyr-san. It’s real.” (Tyr)

At the First Town’s town hall, Tyr and Urt were discussing the new information they had received from the Order face-to-face. Arc and Minerva had just left for an inspection of the Fourth Town, while Yanna was still at the Third Town as usual.

Having finished swordsmanship practice, Hal returned with a refreshed expression after taking a cold bath. He held a canteen filled with water cooled in the well in one hand, but before he could take a drink, he seemed to notice something was off with Tyr and Urt. He headed straight toward them.

“Hey, is something up with you two?” (Hal)

“Ah, Hal-san, you’re just in time. Actually, there’s been a rebellion in the western part of the kingdom. The Order sent us a message.” (Urt)

Urt relayed to Hal the same explanation he had just given to Tyr.

“A rebellion?” (Hal)

“Yes, a peasant rebellion.” (Urt)

It seemed that the peasants had seized the opportunity to rebel while the nobles were away in the capital for the Habarov Summons. Although the nobles were indeed absent, their subordinates, who had been left in charge, were more vigilant than usual, so under normal circumstances, such a peasant rebellion would have been swiftly suppressed. However, this time, it seemed that the rebellion still hadn’t been quelled.

“Right now, the nearby nobles are trying to suppress it, but they haven’t been able to do so.” (Urt)

“What? That’s bad.” (Hal)

When a noble faced with a peasant rebellion, it tarnished their household name, so they usually tried to suppress it on their own before other nobles find out. However, the fact that even with the cooperation of other nobles, the rebellion still hadn’t been quelled suggested that it was quite a large-scale uprising.

Such peasant rebellions could quickly spread to other regions. It was like throwing fire onto the oil of the long-suppressed frustrations of the peasants. If those in power decided that they couldn’t contain it in its current state, it was very likely that they would request further assistance from other nobles.

“Mikanda might also receive a military mobilization order.” (Tyr)

Hal, who had been nodding along, suddenly froze. He looked at Tyr as if to say, “What are you talking about?”

“Military…? We don’t have anything like that. Not in our territory.”  (Hal)

“Exactly.”  (Tyr)

“…No, ‘exactly’ isn’t the right response.” (Hal)

Hal calmly retorted to Tyr’s nonchalant remark.
