**Today’s Diary**

On the day we fought Zess and his team, we returned to the school building after defeating the upperclassmen, and we were greeted with cheers. It was not just from our class, but from all the first-year classes. It was a bit embarrassing, but I waved back in response.

The next day, there was a match for Blue Shell, led by Roy-kun, but unfortunately, their opponent was a team of third-year students. As expected, facing third-year students in their first match was too much, and they lost. And then, our team, Catrap, faced a team of second-year students in the second round, just like Zess and his team. We lost quite easily.

Since our main goal in the inter-school competition was to defeat Zess’ team, we were satisfied with our loss. Even so, the only first-year teams that managed to defeat a second-year team in this competition were one team from 1-A and our team.

Team Catrap became well-known, and our first interclass competition came to an end.

And today, the day after the competition ended, is a day off. We get together and head out into the city, our main purpose of course being to buy some delicious sweets from Todd’s shop.

The city of Rodin, bathed in bright sunshine from the morning, was as lively as ever, and as someone from the countryside, I still hadn’t quite gotten used to it. Even so, since I was walking with everyone else, there was no chance of getting lost.

The ones who humming happily were Hana and Heinz.

Actually, once we got the sweets from Todd’s shop, we planned to head straight to the Western-style mansion. For the two of them, this was a much-anticipated visit to the mansion.

Since the competition was held until yesterday, we hadn’t confirmed the schedule of the mansion’s owner, Rinkert-san. However, she mentioned that she was usually around on school holidays, so there was a high possibility she would be there. If, unfortunately, she was not there, we would eat the sweets together in the usual courtyard of the school building.

“Ah, there it is! Over there!” (Ratt)

Ratt-kun pointed to a place where a long line had already formed, indicating the popularity of the shop. As I watched in admiration, as if reading my mind, he added…

“And even if you line up, it doesn’t mean you’ll be able to buy anything.” (Ratt)

Todd’s shop used only ingredients that the owner, Todd, was satisfied with. And that depended on the day’s stock, which we wouldn’t know in advance. So, some days they sold a lot, and other days, only a few items were available.

I wonder if there will be enough for us?

As I was about to drift towards the line, Maria grabbed my sleeve and stopped me.

“Lux. We’re not going that way. This way.” (Maria)

She said, leading me down a narrow alley next to the shop.

As we passed through the alley, we found ourselves on an unusually quiet street, a stark contrast to the bustling main avenue. That was because all the shops faced the main street, and there were only back doors to shops and private homes in this alley.

Would someone call out to me from the back door?

Ignoring the back door of Todd’s shop, Maria confidently walked to a door of a house three doors down from the alley and effortlessly pushed it open.

“Maria?” (Lux)

While we stood there dumbfounded, Maria went inside.

The truth was, I entrusted Maria with the “voucher” we received from Lamie-senpai because we heard it was a ticket used by nobles for shopping, and Maria seemed to understand that well. She disappeared into the house for a moment before poking her head out again and calling to us.

“What are you waiting for? Come on in.” (Maria)

Cautiously, we followed Maria into the house…

“Wow!” (Sonia/Hana)

Sonia and Hana exclaimed in surprise. Inside was undeniably a confectionery shop. We were the only customers.

“Unbelievable… I’ve lived in this town, but I had no idea this place existed…” (Rick)

Rick-san said as he looked around curiously.

“So, this is an exclusive shop for nobles. Very aristocratic.” (Frank)

Frank muttered, saying exactly what he was thinking.

Maria, instead of getting angry, explained calmly.

“Yes, it’s divided like this to prevent nobles from using people to buy up everything. This side is only for customers who made reservations a few days in advance. Anything left over will be sent to the main store out front.” (Maria)

It made sense to me.

“I see.” (Frank)

Frank said, genuinely impressed.

“And today, we’re the only ones who have a reservation.” (Maria)

“So, that means…” (Sonia)

“Yes, we can choose any sweets we want from here! But only as much as you can eat!” (Maria)

“Yay!!” (Ratt)

Ratt-kun cheered.

While everyone was busy picking out various sweets, Heinz stood back, observing the scene. Noticing this, I approached him and called out to him.

“Aren’t you going to choose anything, Heinz?” (Lux)

“I’m not that fond of sweets. I’ll leave it to everyone else.” (Heinz)

“Really?” (Lux)

“Besides, I was impressed by Lamie-senpai’s thoughtful gesture.” (Heinz)

“Hmm?” (Lux)

“Remember what Maria said earlier? ‘You have to make a reservation a few days in advance’. So, when did Lamie-senpai get this ticket ready?” (Heinz)

“I see.” (Lux)

Now that you mention it, it’s certainly true. I did say I was confident that I would win, but did Lamie-senpai prepare the tickets immediately after hearing those words?

“Lamie-senpai is amazing,” (Lux)

I muttered.

“She’s a sniper even though she’s a noble, and she’s pretty unpredictable.” (Heinz)

Heinz agreed.

We purchased only as many sweets as we could eat (although Senior Lamie covered the cost), and before returning to the academy, we headed to Rita-san’s house. We gave some sweets to Noris, who had been home alone, and shared some for Rita-san. After chatting a bit with Noris, we headed back to the academy along the same path we had taken.

“I never knew there was a path here…” (Heinz)

Heinz, Hana, Maria, and Ratt-kun, who were visiting the mansion for the first time, followed the narrow path in surprise.

“Wow…” (Maria/Hana)

Maria and Hana muttered in awe as they saw the rose gate of the mansion, and Sonia, looking satisfied.

“Of course.” (Sonia)

I looked up at the second floor of the mansion, but today, the woman in the white dress was nowhere to be seen.

“Hello~ Rinkert-san, are you here~?” (Rick)

Rick called out.

“Yes, yes.” (Rinkert)

Came a voice from the garden. We all headed that way.

“Ah, Rinkert-san, hello! We’ve brought our friends we mentioned the other day. We also brought some sweets from Todd’s shop, so if it’s not too much trouble, we’d like to say hello.” (Rick)

Rick conveyed the purpose of our visit.

“Oh, Todd’s shop, the famous one? How delightful, you’re very welcome. I’ll prepare some tea now. Please, have a seat and wait.” (Rinkert)

And so, the modest victory celebration began at the elegant mansion on the edge of the academy.
