The mayor of Forth Town was the adventurer representative, Rishu, and the deputy mayor was the merchant representative, Hausar.

There was considerable debate over who should be the mayor but given that Forth Town would need to be developed for some time, adventurers would be central to this effort. Additionally, Rishu was well-respected not only by adventurers but also by merchants, so she was chosen as the mayor.

At the departure ceremony, Arc bowed his head to Rishu.

“Please take care of Forth Town. If anything happens, let the First Town know immediately. I promise to provide maximum support as the lord.” (Arc)

As a lord, Arc often had to travel around. Tyr, who was stationed in the First Town, would handle any issues that arose in his absence. Rishu, as usual, seemed unfazed and grinned.

“Well, being an adventurer is like being a ‘jack-of-all-trades.’ Don’t worry. We just need to build a simple port and some houses before the craftsmen arrive, right? Luckily, there are plenty of adventurers, so we should manage.” (Rishu)

“Rishu, you’re really reliable. Thank you again for coming to Mikanda.” (Arc)

“Hehe. What’s this? You’re unusually sincere. That’s not like you.” (Rishu)

Teased by Rishu, Arc felt the urge to open up a bit. When he was just starting out as a merchant, he would always talk to Richie when he had a difficult or tough time.

“I guess I’m pretty worn out. Suddenly being transferred to this rural territory and then having to push through reform after reform without a break. Seeing you again, Rishu, I might have wanted to lean on you a bit.” (Arc)

“Is that all? You don’t need to worry anymore. You’ve got this big sister Rishu by your side.” (Rishu)

Though slightly surprised by Arc’s sudden honesty, Rishu gently comforted him. Not many adventurers would dare to pat a lord’s head, but she did so without hesitation. This was unchanged from the past. When young Arc was feeling down, this simple gesture would quickly win him over.

“There, there. You’ve done well so far.” (Rishu)

“Don’t treat me like a kid.” (Arc)

“Oh, come on. You’re the one who said you wanted to lean on me.” (Rishu)

While leaning his head on her shoulder, Arc checked his surroundings. Good. Minerva wasn’t there. He had told Minerva, who had become utterly hostile towards Rishu, that she didn’t have to attend today’s departure ceremony. It seemed she had indeed chosen not to come. If she had seen this, it would have caused another huge commotion.

The departure ceremony concluded without incident, and the 50-member expedition to develop Forth Town mounted their horses. Though the number was small compared to other towns, all of them were more than capable merchants and adventurers. With Rishu as the leader, Arc had no worries.

As the expedition prepared to leave, Rishu raised her hand towards Arc.

“Alright, we’re off.” (Rishu)

“Yes. Please take care of everyone and Forth Town.” (Arc)

Arc watched the expedition until they disappeared from view.
