After a while, Minerva returned calm and composed, and the group moved to a separate room to discuss the future. Hausa, representing the merchants, Richieu, representing the adventurers, Arc, and Minerva entered the other room. However, the atmosphere was very awkward. The cause of this tension was, of course, Minerva and Rishu. After such a heated argument in front of so many people, it was inevitable that conflicts would arise among just the four of them.

Rishu took the initiative to provoke Minerva with a smirk.

“Minerva-sama, you’re staring at me so intently… it’s quite embarrassing.” (Rishu)

“Huh? I’m not staring at you.” (Minerva)

“If you have anything on your mind, Minerva-sama, now’s the time to say it.” (Rishu)

“Brother, didn’t Father always say? As a merchant, you must be impeccable. Especially not to tarnish the Warden name with your personal affairs like what happened with Yanna-oneesama.” (Minerva)

Minerva directed her frustration towards Arc. If her brother hadn’t gotten involved with this woman, she wouldn’t have barged in like this. Arc, however, responded calmly. It was a poor strategy to counter an emotional woman with logic, but Arc had always been somewhat clueless about women’s feelings.

“Isn’t it just you, Minerva? Father was very fond of you. When Uncle said it was common for merchants’ daughters to marry politicians, Father yelled, ‘Yanna aside, I will never send Minerva to anyone else!’” (Arc)

Minerva, the youngest daughter, was doted on by both her father and siblings. Although she was intellectually gifted, she sometimes retained a certain childishness. She was also pure and somewhat obsessive about cleanliness.

“Rather, I’ve often been told that someone who can’t charm women has no business charming customers as a merchant.” (Arc)

“Minerva, you’d better stop clinging to your brother. You’re almost 20 now.” (Rishu)

Arc, proudly countering his younger sister, was getting support from Rishu’s provocations. Hausar stood by the window drinking coffee, trying not to get caught up in the action.

“I’m just keeping an eye on Onii-chan to make sure he can handle his duties as lord properly. I’m not a weak sister who can’t separate from her brother. So, it’s none of your business.” (Minerva)

Minerva had reverted to calling Arc “onii-chan” instead of “onii-sama,” and her voice had grown slightly tearful.

“I’m sorry for coming here and causing trouble when you thought there were no rivals in this rural place. But now that Lady Minerva is jealous, it reminds me of the old days.” (Rishu)

“Be quiet. I’m Minerva Warden! Why do you speak to me so casually? If this were another noble, your head would be on the block!” (Rishu)

Minerva, having resorted to using her status as a shield, was behaving like a villain from a public play. Using one’s status to attack in an argument signifies a “loss” in the dispute. Perhaps Minerva was aware of her own defeat, as she gradually began to sob.

Ah, she’s crying.

Arc hurriedly patted Minerva on the shoulder, but she brushed his hand away. With a tearful face, she glared at Arc and shouted.

“I don’t care anymore! I hate you, Onii-chan!!” (Minerva)

Me!?

Arc was astonished, never expecting to be the target of such a shout, especially when it was Rishu who had been arguing with Minerva. This was one example of Arc’s ‘cluelessness’.

“Oh dear, Arc-kun. You shouldn’t make your sister cry.” (Rishu)

After Minerva left, Rishu commented with a smirk as if it were someone else’s problem.
