The Incompetent Bratty Prince is out (3/3 chapters)
Decided to Dismiss a Heroine and Have Her Encounter the Protagonist

With anger towards my two brothers and determination to be with Alexandra, I returned to my room.
“Hmm…” (Harold)
…And there was Marion of all people, waiting at the door in a kneeling position.
If she’s expelled from the palace, she loses her salary, and for the Shearer Household’s revival, which seems distant, it’s a matter of life and death for Marion…
“I deeply apologize for my rudeness to Prince Harold. Please, can you forgive me?” (Marion)
Marion bowed deeply, delivering her apology in her usual flat tone.
Now… what should I do? While I can sympathize with her situation, letting this slide would betray Alexandra’s anger on my behalf. However, if I incur her resentment, when the main story of “Enhaz” begins, there’s a high chance she’ll ally with the protagonist Wilfred against me. Is there no good solution…?
“Ah…” (Harold)
There is one option. This way, I could understand Alexandra’s feelings and it wouldn’t necessarily be bad for Marion in the long run…
“Ahem… Marion. Unfortunately, I can’t keep you as a maid.” (Harold)
“Wh-what?! Please! I swear I’ll never behave disrespectfully again! So please… please give me another chance!” (Marion)
She pressed her forehead to the floor, pleading in a desperate voice that was a stark contrast to before. Considering how she had endured until this moment, it was only natural she would be desperate, knowing it could all be for naught now.
“Wait. I’m not saying I’ll expel you from the palace.” (Harold)
“R-really?” (Marion)
“From now on, you’ll serve Prince Wilfred, the fourth prince. Of course, as his exclusive maid…” (Harold)
“Ah…” (Marion)
At that moment, Marion’s face, which she had raised with vigor, turned pale.
Currently, Wilfred has no exclusive maid. That’s because every maid dreads becoming his exclusive maid. There’s no benefit to becoming his exclusive maid, and even the people around her will look at her with contempt, just like they do to Wilfred, making her the lowest of the low among the maids.
These are all because my mother, Queen Margaret, will not allow even the slightest improvement in Wilfred’s circumstances. Why, you ask? It’s because his beloved husband, King Eibar, was taken by his mistress and Wilfred’s mother, Baroness Samantha Allport.
Yes… Wilfred is the child born between Queen Margaret’s beloved husband and the woman she despises most in the world. Moreover, she can never forgive the fact that, in her position as a mere mistress, Samantha managed to coerce King Eibar into granting Wilfred the right of succession to the throne. Other royals and nobles alike cannot possibly approve of elevating a child of a mistress to such a status, and in any case, Wilfred has been condemned to a life of hardship from the moment he was born. That’s why Wilfred is called the “Tainted Prince.”
While I can’t say I sympathize with such a protagonist… No, when the main story of “Enhaz” begins, he’ll end up having a great time having surrounded himself with heroines, so I won’t sympathize with him. Well, that’s how it is, so Marion could be said to have received a sort of death sentence.
“Don’t worry. If anyone asks, just say ‘I was forcibly ordered by Harold to become Wilfred’s exclusive maid’, and I’ll inform the head maid of that as well. This way, at least you can garner sympathy from those around you and avoid unpleasant feelings.” (Harold)
“Prince Harold can say that because you know nothing about this! I… I…” (Marion)
“However, if you leave the palace now, the House of Earl Shearer’s revival will be impossible.” (Harold)
“What!?” (Marion)
Marion couldn’t hide her surprise at the realization that I knew about her desperate plea. She trembled, staring at me with wide eyes.
“And besides, if you continue to serve under these conditions, we’ll both end up unhappy. I don’t have the power to support the revival of the Shearer family either way. So, whether I’m seen as the ‘incompetent bratty prince’ or the ‘tainted prince,’ it won’t make much difference, right?” (Harold)
Marion glared at me as I shrugged my shoulders and joked. After all, this mess was her own doing.
Certainly, I’ve endured Marion’s scornful glances and rough treatment over the past month. I don’t want to set unnecessary flags and end up with a bad ending. But even so, if I were asked which to choose and respect between Alexandra and Marion, the answer would be clear. That would be the former, without hesitation. At the very least, if I stay engaged to her, there’s no need to get involved in foolish struggles over who brings the world’s greatest fiancée to the next king.
…No, that’s not it. To me, the only important person in this world is Alexandra.
“Marion, this is my utmost concession. If you can’t accept this, you should leave the palace immediately.” (Harold)
“…” (Marion)
With those words left hanging, I entered my room. I could sense the most intense hatred directed at my back.

i love how he’s like “cant get on the wrong side of the heroines” then immediately socially kills one. Sure its her fault but his words and actions don’t align
