Let’s Go Visit My Sister
(Thank you for reading at bayabuscotranslation.com)
**Today’s Diary**
Back when we lived in the countryside, my younger sister, Noris often complained of dizziness and had to stay in bed a lot. Even after seeing a nearby town doctor, the cause remained unknown, and we had to manage with temporary medications.
I was anxious about how things would be if this continued, but my sister was probably even more worried. Still, without a word of complaint, she did what she could around the house when she felt well. She is the sister I’m proud of. Now, that sister is staying at Rita-san’s house. I had said I wouldn’t come to this academy unless Noris came along, and somehow that became the case.
This morning, Rita-san, who was waiting in front of the school building, informed me that they had found out the cause of Noris’s illness. She said it was good news, so I got her permission to bring some friends along when we visit tomorrow, which is a holiday.
—
“Eh? Is this your first time going out into the city, Lux?” (Heinz)
Heinz asked me in a slightly surprised voice.
“Yeah. Just exploring the school grounds was enough for me.” (Lux)
“But your sister lives in the city, right?” (Sonia)
Sonia chimed in, looking puzzled.
I had told Sonia that my sister was staying with acquaintances. It was a little surprise for Sonia, who admired Rita-san. Heinz had met her on the first day, so I asked him to keep it a secret. When I first came to the academy, it was at night, so I didn’t really feel it, but now, during the day, going out again, the city feels very lively. There were various shops lining the main street, and just walking around made the eyes wander.
Maybe, it was because it was a holiday, but there were so many people bustling about. I definitely wouldn’t have been able to find my way to Rita-san’s house alone. This time, I gave Heinz the address of Rita-san’s house and asked him to guide us. I needed to remember the way well enough to go alone.
We left earlier than our appointed time, planning to buy a gift on the way, and now we’re browsing through the shops. I hadn’t even thought about bringing a gift, so their suggestion was very helpful.
“So, um… what does the host there like?” (Heinz)
When Heinz asked me, I searched my memory, but all I could remember was Rita-san getting drunk and munching on a Bubor Bird in the village, and the impression I had of her being drunk and in a good mood in the towns and villages on the way to the academy. Thinking back, she was always drunk at night.
“Well… I think she likes alcohol… a lot.” (Lux)
“Alcohol, huh? We can’t buy it ourselves, and bringing alcohol as a gift might seem a bit rough.” (Heinz)
Buying alcohol in the city required a license. Given that this was a military academy where all sorts of weapons were collected, they were strict with drunkards. Getting a license is was enough, but if one got into some incident or accident while intoxicated, it would be immediately revoked. Depending on what happened, it could take 5 to 10 years to get it back. During that time, they were also barred from entering bars.
Furthermore, third-year students and staff from the school were on duty to patrol the city at night, so even if they weren’t drunk, there were few criminals who would target soldiers or aspiring soldiers. Thanks to this, the city’s nights were said to be much safer than other cities.
“How about a set of cookies and tea?” (Sonia)
Sonia suggested while holding a cutely wrapped package of cookies.
“Yeah, it’s safe bet, isn’t it? What do you think, Lux?” (Heinz)
“Yeah, sounds good to me. Let’s go with that.” (Lux)
We bought enough cookies and a can of tea for everyone, then headed towards Rita-san’s house, casually strolling through the streets.
“It’s around Residential Area Street 15.” (Heinz)
Heinz guided us as we entered a corner lined with apartments, with neat brick-style buildings all lined up, each with a well-designed entrance on the ground floor. Each door had a numbered plate, and we scanned for number 32.
“30, 31… ah, there it is. Number 32 on Street 15. This must be it.” (Heinz)
I rang the doorbell. Inside, we heard the bell ring “ding-dong,” followed shortly by a voice calling out, “Coming!”
The door clicked open, revealing my sister, Noris.
“Ah, Onii-chan! It’s been a while. How have you been?” (Noris)
Noris greeted me with more vigor than I had expected.
“Yeah, Noris, you look great! Oh, these are my friends, Heinz and Sonia.” (Lux)
I introduced Heinz and Sonia to Noris.
“I’m Muriel Heinz. Nice to meet you.” (Heinz)
“I’m Mitta Sonia. Wow, you’re so cute! You look a bit like Lux!” (Sonia)
Noris, who received their greetings, returned the greetings with a bit of embarrassment.
“I’m Fort Noris. Thanks for always taking care of Onii-chan!” (Noris)
As Noris and Sonia giggled at the doorstep, a voice called from inside, ” Noris, please bring the guests in”.
“Oh, sorry about that. Please, come in!” (Noris)
Noris urged us inside the house.
Prompted by Noris, we entered the house. In the hallway ahead, there was a living room with a table set with a teapot and cups. Rita-san was wearing loose clothing and a frilly apron that I didn’t see at school.
“Hello, welcome. It’s nice to see you.” (Rita)
Upon seeing Rita welcoming her, Sonia panicked, covering her mouth and exclaiming, “Huh?! Zazaza, why is – Zalard-sensei here!? Huh?! Why!?”.
“Relax, this isn’t school. You can just call me Rita if you’re Lux’s friend.” (Rita)
With that, Sonia collapsed to the floor with a yell, “Ahhh!”.
Surprised by Sonia’s reaction, Rita looked at me and asked, “What’s going on?”. I explained that Sonia had been helped by Rita in the past and had entered the academy because she admired her.
“Oh, the gang… Oh yeah, that. The girl from back then. I see. If only you had said something sooner.” (Rita)
Rita casually remarked, but Sonia just mumbled “Yes, no…”, so she suggested that they take a seat for the time being.
“Here, this is for you. It’s a little gift.” (Heinz)
Heinz smoothly handed over the gift while Sonia was still flustered.
“Thank you. I was just about to make some tea. Let’s all enjoy it together.” (Rita)
Rita said graciously, while Noris helped with the preparations.

After catching up with Rita-san about the school and other matters, she straightened up in her chair.
“Well then, let’s get to the main topic. It’s about Noris’s illness.” (Rita)
Feeling a bit nervous despite hearing it was good news, I cleared my throat and put on a serious expression.
“Don’t be so tense. Well, to cut to the chase, Noris’s illness can be cured.” (Rita)
Noris’s illness was described as ‘Mana Circulation Dysfunction’. Normally, humans generated magical power within their bodies all the time, and any unused magical power was unconsciously released from the body, but this was not working well for Noris.
“Simply put, it’s like being force-fed even when you’re already full.” (Rita)
Ah, I can see why that would make someone feel unwell. As to why it hadn’t been understood until now, apparently this condition is somewhat rare and not easily recognized by local doctors. It seems that the doctors in this town had to search around and stumbled upon the idea.
“We’ll assist with mana release using medicine for a while, but over time, the circulation should stabilize.” (Rita)
I turned my eyes to Noris, who was listening to Rita’s explanation with a smile next to me, and let out a big sigh.
“Great~~~~~~~” (Lux)
I let out the word.
“……Lux, Noris-chan, I’m so glad for you.” (Heinz)
“I’m really glad too.” (Sonia)
Heinz and Sonia added their words and patted my back.
“Thank you so much, Rita-san.” (Lux)
I stood up and bowed my head to Rita.
“No, it was incidental. Don’t worry about it. Besides, Noris has been a great help to me in various ways.” (Rita)
Actually, Rita seemed to be a bit weak at housekeeping in general.
“Uhmm……” (Noris)
Noris chuckled awkwardly and I realized that this was more than just a little bit.
So, Noris took care of the housework, and I was very grateful for that.
“Even after deducting the rent, you’ll still have change.” (Rita)
And so, peaceful time passed, and when it was time to leave,
“Oh right, Lux, there’s something I’d like to tell you. Sorry, but please come with me,” she said, leading me to what looked like a study beyond the living room. After closing the door to the room with a soft click, Rita-san spoke in a subdued voice.
“Next time your team has a practice match, right? I have a small request for you.” (Rita)
“Yes. What is it?” (Lux)
“During that time… or rather, until the first inter-school match of the year ends…” (Rita)
“Yes?” (Lux)
“I’d like you not to snipe the opponents. Frankly, if you were to seriously start sniping them, the match would be over before it even begins. If things go wrong, the opponent’s Knight (Ritter) could be sniped right at the start, and the match would be over.” (Rita)
“I don’t think it’ll come to that? There are plenty of snipers better than me, aren’t there?” (Lux)
“Yeah, you’ll have to see and experience it for yourself. But I believe that. And for the team, it wouldn’t be a good thing. You understand why, right?” (Rita)
“If Rita-san says so, but others won’t learn anything, will they?” (Lux)
“Exactly. So, Lux, until the first inter-school match is over, try to lead your team to victory without sniping anyone. That’s my assignment for you. How does that sound?” (Rita)
“Understood. If it’s just that, considering Noris, it’s not a request at all. I promise.” (Lux)
Thus, with such a secret agreement with Rita-san, the visit of that day came to an end.
