End and Beginning
(Thank you for reading at bayabuscotranslation.com)
“Wait a moment, Cayenne. What do you mean by that just now?” (Sanger)
“Come to think of it, at last night’s meeting, you were the only one expressing reservations about Sirius-dono.” (Julia)
The unsettling words from Cayenne-sama began to change the atmosphere in the conference room, and the senior members of Sandor started to look at each other with unease. They were unsure why he was saying such things, but facing the two members of the royal family, they seemed troubled about how to respond.
“It means exactly what I said. He… is dangerous. Depending on the circumstances, he could become another Lambda.” (Cayenne)
“That can’t be true! He has nothing to do with us, yet he sacrificed himself to save the country, a hero!” (Sanger)
“The same was said during Lambda’s time.” (Cayenne)
“Unlike that man, Sirius-dono has no reason to hate us. Even if he unknowingly harbored resentment, sincere treatment from us is all that’s needed.” (Julia)
As Sanger raised his voice, Julia-sama supported him, but Cayenne-sama remained calm in his explanation.
“That may be true, but I have been thinking about it since that battle ended. Besides Hokuto-dono, Sirius-dono has exceptional disciples as well. In other words, he possesses excessive power for a lone adventurer. Isn’t Julia-sama, who has observed this closely, the most understanding of this?” (Cayenne)
“I… see your point. However, Sirius-dono’ strength is simply due to his diligence, and his disciples are strong because he nurtured them.” (Julia)
“Firstly, even if an individual is strong, they wouldn’t possess a monstrous artifact like Lambda.” (Sanger)
“Then, who went to the Magic Continent where Lambda conducted his research, wielding artifacts capable of manipulating monsters, if not him? What if he secretly acquired that dangerous technology?” (Cayenne)
‘Even if someone is an ally, people inevitably fear those who become too powerful. Sirius-sama understands this well, so one reason he went alone to the Magic Continent might have been to prevent suspicions like those expressed by Cayenne-sama. However, even if I say that, I don’t think it will change Cayenne-sama’s current thoughts.’
Gradually, Sanger-sama and Julia-sama fell silent, and amidst Reus’s difficult expression, he objected…
“You can’t assume he obtained Lambda’s technology. How about asking him before making judgments?” (Beast King)
“I doubt he would answer even if asked. If he gained power and harbored ambitions of becoming a ruler…” (Cayenne)
“He has no such ambitions. If Sirius had such thoughts, I wouldn’t be here.” (Liefel)
Beast King-sama and Liafel-sama spoke calmly even though they were angry. Especially, Liefel-sama’s words would be the most convincing proof. If Sirius-sama desired to be a ruler, Elysion wouldn’t be Elysion, and Liefel-sama wouldn’t be here.
Facing direct questions from the two royals, even Cayenne-sama found himself at a loss for words, but amidst them, there was someone else overflowing with anger.
“Well then, old man over there. What will you do if Sirius turns out to be the man you imagine?” (Lior)
“I am merely suggesting that he is dangerous. I haven’t thought about what to do yet.” (Cayenne)
“Hmm, aren’t you secretly considering getting rid of him? Well, no matter how many gather, it’s likely impossible to take down that man.” (Lior)
‘Both are experienced old timers in life.’
While an ordinary person might forget how to breathe in the face of the old man’s intimidating aura, Cayenne-sama stared back without hesitation.
“Do as you please with your foolish thoughts. However, if you intend to be his enemy, remember that I will become your enemy too.” (Lior)
“Does that mean you stand with him, Strongest Sword-dono?” (Cayenne)
“I am not standing with him. That man is someone who can fight me on equal terms, and he is my prey! Anyone who tries to take my prey will face my blade before him!” (Lior)
‘It’s a shame they can’t be more straightforward, but that’s how these old timers are.’
Releasing a killing intent that seemed to say he was serious, they began to scare those not accustomed, who started to tremble or even fall off their chairs, making the meeting irrelevant. Even Lord Cayenne seemed troubled. When he signaled with his eyes for me to stop the old men, Reus, who had been quiet until now, slowly spoke up.
“Listen, let me say this too. If Aniki does anything as foolish as you think, I’ll wager my life to cut him down.” (Reus)
“That’s quite the determination. But can you really bring yourself to slay your master?” (Cayenne)
“I can. Because that’s what Aniki would want.” (Reus)
“…Understood. If you’re considering it to that extent, I won’t press further. My apologies for causing a disturbance, Sanger-sama, Julia-sama.” (Cayenne)
“No need to apologize, it was me who said ‘without regret’. Don’t worry about it.” (Sanger)
“I’m not thrilled about it, but your words are also in consideration of our country, right? No need for apologies.” (Julia)
Cayenne-sama still seemed not entirely convinced, but he must have judged that continuing the argument would be pointless. He apologized sincerely and refrained from speaking further about Lord Sirius. Fortunately, it seemed that few were afraid of Sirius-sama after the exchange earlier. Some even passionately discussed giving rewards to Sirius and integrating him into their country. However, the unsettling words from Cayenne-sama remained, and while few, there were those who wore complex expressions. Though I didn’t believe they would resort to direct action upon sensing the Ojii-chan’s killing intent, I engraved in my mind the need to remain vigilant until Sirius-sama awakens.
Though it’s still a plan, we received lists detailing each person’s rewards, so we returned with them to Sirius-sama. Considering the possibility of anything happening, and for the sake of sharing information, we gathered trustworthy individuals in one room, which became quite a group. Still, the room was spacious enough for comfort. Sitting at the table, I was reporting the meeting’s contents to everyone during breaks in conversation when Liefel-sama, sighing lightly, began to grumble.
“I never expected to receive a reward myself. This must be about Elysion’s dignity, right?” (Liefel)
“That’s not all, I think. You weren’t just protecting me. You were skillfully organizing the soldiers who seemed confused. You’ve supported everyone, Nee-sama.” (Reese)
“Well, I did what I could, but it’s not very satisfying to be chosen over someone who’s been more active, like your brother. Hey, shouldn’t he receive more praise?” (Liefel)
“Huh!? Um… Aniue wasn’t fighting for that, so I don’t think he minds.” (Marina)
While our rewards were mainly announced during the previous meeting, Albert’s name was also mentioned in between. Currently, he’s assisting Keith-sama in subduing monsters and wasn’t present at the castle. Therefore, I received his reward list on his behalf, and Marina currently had it. As she was looking over the list, her expression grew complicated.
“But, this is really something. It might be the first time my brother will receive this much gold.” (Marina)
“Well, Al has worked hard for it. By the way, King Beast-sama and Keith seem to like Al, and considering all they’ve done for him in this battle, it seems Arbitray is planning to send something too, right?” (Liefel)
“Wow… Although this would greatly improve our financial situation, suddenly having this much more is kind of scary.” (Marina)
“Financial situation? Are you planning to use it for the household? Since it’s money for Al, why not buy something he wants?” (Emilia)
“Well, maybe some souvenirs for my sister-in-law Pamela-san and the family… I mean, it’s quite an excessive amount for one person. I think Aniue would use it for the homeland. What about your reward?” (Marina)
“Me? I’ll settle for this much.” (Reus)
When asked, Reus handed his list to Marina.
Marina, although amazed at Reus’s calmness in handing over something that should only be shown to family to prevent disputes, checked the list. With every glance, her expression seemed to contort.
“What… is this? Apart from money and goods, it’s written that he could be granted land or a title of nobility. If you receive all of this, you could become something like a lord of a town?” (Marina)
Possibly considering the potential to be tied to Julia-sama, they might intend to give Reus appropriate authority. Nonetheless, it was written that he could also wish for something, so it was clear he was concerned about us. While the content was astonishing for a mere adventurer, Reus’s reaction seemed weak as expected.
“Is that so? But I’m not interested in being a lord or anything like that. Anyway, why don’t we split the money I receive between Aniki and Marina?” (Reus)
“I understand if it is Sirius-san, but why me?” (Marina)
“Because it’ll be our money, right? So, it’s better to entrust it to Marina, who knows how to use it.” (Reus)
“Huh!?” (Marina)
Naturally, it would be appropriate to entrust everything to Sirius-sama, but he already had someone he considered to be his spouse. Reus’s judgment was quite unexpected. Marina, understanding the meaning of his words, blushed and seemed unable to reply, but Reus, oblivious to her state, noticed something and clapped his hands.
“Oh, right. Instead of land or such, how about receiving ores? When I return to Elysion, I plan to have a new sword made.” (Reus)
“Uhm… A sword? That sounds like it would cost quite a bit, so I’ll consider using part of the reward for that.” (Marina)
“Why would you need money for a sword? Blame the old man who forged that dull weapon that can’t keep up with your skills. If you complain, he’ll make a better one for you.” (Lior)
“No, that’s not necessary, and I’ve never thought that sword was dull. It’s been my reliable partner all this time until I got here!” (Reus)
“If you’re going to raise your voice anymore, please do it outside.” (Emilia)
“”…”” (Lior/Reus)
As Ojii-chan joined in and it started to get a bit noisy, I smiled at the two to quiet them down. Really, it was a bit too much excitement even considering that Lord Sirius hadn’t awakened yet. Once it quieted down, I asked everyone again for their opinions on the meeting’s content, and there were still common concerns.
“We knew, but now we have someone who’s concerned about that.” (??)
“Indeed, most participants in the meeting seemed to have a favorable view towards Sirius-sama, but considering the words of the renowned Sandor, Cayenne-sama, some might end up agreeing with him.” (Emilia)
“Geez, the more I hear, the more ridiculous it sounds. There’s no way Aniki would stoop to such petty actions.” (Reus)
“But Sirius-san’s personality isn’t easily understood by those like us.” (Reese)
“And considering we don’t directly know what Sirius saw in the Demonic Continent, it’s natural to feel uneasy.” (Fia)
However, even if an explanation is given that Sirius-sama didn’t see anything related to Lambda’s magical tools or technology, there will likely still be those who won’t be satisfied. People might reach an excessive level of concern and fear, suspecting lies and plotting to monopolize the technology. In conclusion, we should be wary of those who might forcefully detain Sirius-sama to steal his knowledge or technology, or those who, like Cayenne-sama mentioned, fear his immense power and seek to eliminate him. If they confront us directly, handling them would be easier, but those who reach such conclusions tend to believe in their own righteousness and choose indiscriminate actions.
“Perhaps we should leave this country as soon as possible.” (Emilia)
“Yes, that might be wise. It’s a bit lonely, but there’s no longer any reason to linger.” (Fia)
As long as Sirius remains asleep, we must determine our course of action and move forward. At this point, our priority should be ensuring the safety of Sirius-sama and all of us, so we should head to a place with a lower risk of attack. Fortunately, as Sirius-sama is just sleeping, travel won’t be difficult if we have a carriage. Everyone agreed with this idea, so we decided to head towards Elysion as originally planned.
However, I dared to ask Liefel-sama a certain question.
“Forgive me for asking, but may I inquire, Liefel-sama, do you desire Sirius-sama’s power?” (Emilia)
“I wouldn’t say ‘desire,’ but I do intend to ask him to help us if needed. At the very least, I have no intention of ignoring his will and forcefully exploiting him.” (Liefel)
“Then, are you not afraid? He may now possess the power and knowledge to destroy even a kingdom.” (Emilia)
“At this point, that’s not really a concern. While it might have been different if it were someone else, Sirius understands the use of power, its dangers, and the morality of actions based on human nature. I know he won’t resort to unreasonable violence unless provoked, so I’ve never truly been afraid of him.” (Liefel)
“Heh, as expected of Nee-sama.” (Reese)
It might have been a futile question, given Leifel-sama’s defense of Sirius during the meeting, but as Sirius’s attendant, I had to confirm it. However… she was indeed as I expected. She hadn’t changed since we first met. Bold yet calm, she remained the kind-hearted woman who was incredibly indulgent towards her family.
“After all, I’m his sister-in-law now. I’m a bit soft-hearted towards family, so I’ll certainly accommodate him in various ways. I’m really grateful that you have caught such an outstanding person, Reese. Take this as a compliment!” (Liefel)
“If that’s how you see me… ah, ugh…” (Reese)
Certainly, there might be some calculation behind acquiring such a talented subordinate, but in Liefel-sama’s case, it was more than that. Because while not as apparent as Reese, when Liefel-sama talked about Sirius, she looked at him with the same gentle eyes she had towards her family.
Anyway, with this, I no longer had any concerns about heading to Elysion.
“So, it’s good to quickly receive our rewards and then leave Sandor… right?” (Emilia)
“Yes. Ideally, we might have just set off without worrying about rewards, but considering the future, it’s something we can’t ignore. ” (Fia)
“It’s a fair reward, so don’t hesitate to accept it. By the way, isn’t there a list detailing Sirius’s rewards?” (Liefel)
“Well, there have been various circumstances surrounding that…” (Emilia)
When we received our lists, we performed a simple ceremony of reading them aloud and receiving them from Sanger-sama. Naturally, Sirius, who wasn’t present, couldn’t participate, so Cayenne-sama proposed that we conduct a special ceremony here in this room and present the list.
“Huh? Can’t that wait until he wakes up? We would postpone things too if we had circumstances.” (Liefel)
“Sirius-sama has a unique situation with multiple rewards, and they want to finish the preliminary ceremony quickly to proceed with preparations. There seemed to be complex circumstances involved, making it difficult to refuse.” (Emilia)
“Well, as long as they don’t suggest dragging him out in front of the throne.” (Liefel)
“Isn’t it okay to have someone to replace him? ” (Reese)
“While we could have pushed through with a representative, there’s actually a certain consideration in play, so we’re currently holding off.” (Emilia)
Understanding the dangers and somewhat forceful nature of the situation, I wanted to hear everyone’s opinions. As I explained my thoughts, their initial reactions turned into expressions of astonishment or wry smiles.
“I see… when you think about it, it might make sense.” (Liefel)
“It’s not necessarily a bad idea, but it’s not ordinary.” (Fia)
“Isn’t it worth a try? With us around, we can manage somehow.” (Emilia)
With trust in various senses, my proposal was accepted, and instead of using a representative, we chose to conduct the ceremony in this room. I conveyed this decision to Sanger-sama and Julia-sama, who showed reluctance, but since all of us had resolved ourselves, it was decided that the ceremony would indeed take place here.
—
The next day… unsurprisingly, Sirius did not wake up, so the ceremony for awarding Sirius’s reward was held in this room. When the three of us entered the room along with Sanger-sama and three individuals in ceremonial attire, strangely, Cayenne-sama, who had brought up the ceremony, was nowhere to be seen. And these three gentlemen who accompanied us… I realized they were the same ones who were with Lord Cayenne yesterday morning.
As we watched from a spot not far from Sirius-sama’s sleeping bed, we listened attentively to the officiant’s voice as they read aloud the details of the reward, all the while remaining on high alert.
“… In recognition of the above achievements, Sirius-dono is granted the specified amount of gold coins, lands, and a title.” (??)
Ideally, we should have prevented this situation from occurring. It’s far too dangerous an act to bring strangers close to Sirius, who is known to be targeted. Nevertheless, we…
“If there are any objections, they can be brought up later. As a proxy… the list…” (??)
As the reading concluded and the list was presented, I knelt down to receive it, and in that moment… the atmosphere changed.
“You dangerous man!” (??)
“Just stay asleep!” (??)
“This is enough!” (??)
The clear intent to kill emanated from the three individuals. As each of them drew concealed weapons and aimed towards Sirius, I released the list from my grasp, stepped towards the nearest man, and swiftly brought him down to the ground while twisting the wrist from which he held a blowgun. Another one, wielding a magical stone inscribed with runes, was immediately knocked aside by Leus’s fist, causing the stone to fall and be destroyed by Beowulf’s twin swords.
The last man, rushing towards Sirius with a blowgun and a knife in hand, was about to be neutralized by Reese and Fia-san’s magic, but his spells wasn’t activated. There was none. It was because…
“Attempting to act freely within our nation… ugh!?” (??)
There was no need for it…
The fired dart was deflected by a shining white tail, and before the knife could thrust forward, the man’s wrist was seized. He was effortlessly tossed through the air with an aikido technique, bound by Senia afterwards. As I slowly rose and approached the bed, a raspy voice that would not be missed echoed through the room.
“… What… is… the situation?” (Sirius)
“It’s alright now. There are… no enemies.” (Emilia)
“Hokuto… is…” (Sirius)
“Woof…” (Hokuto)
“He’s safe! He’s awakened just like you!” (??)
“I see…” (??)
The trigger for their awakening… We determined that it would require some kind of impact or stimulus. This is what came of it.
‘With our current selves, we could never emit the killing intent aimed at you with deadly seriousness… You have finally awoken. It’s truly… unbelievable, or rather, you are mysterious individuals.’
Their consciousness was hazy, their gaze unfocused, but in the truest sense, Sirius-sama and Hokuto-san had returned to us. As everyone rushed over, I enveloped my beloved master’s hand with both of mine, forgetting even to wipe away my tears.
“Have… I returned?” (Sirius)
“Yes! Welcome back… Sirius-sama.” (Emilia)
“Ah… I’m home.” (Sirius)
— Sanger —
“Good grief, they’ve really awakened now. What’s with these disciples of him?” (Sanger)
Yesterday, the silver wolf girl suggested that if they sensed killing intent, they might respond, and we should proceed with the ceremony… I shouted at her, asking what she was talking about, but it turned out to be true.
‘Well, in terms of the length of relationship, they are far more experienced than me. Anyway, if he wakes up, I wouldn’t complain, so let’s just quickly finish my job.’
Two out of the three were unconscious, but the one bound by Princess Liefel’s attendant was still conscious. I approached him with an angry expression.
“Hey, you pulled quite a stunt in front of me.” (Sanger)
“W-Wait, please! That man, he’s too dangerous!” (??)
“Even so, isn’t it embarrassing to resort to such a sneak attack?” (Sanger)
“But Cayenne-sama was also wary! If that man became another Lambda, it could pose a crisis not only for Sandor but for the entire world!” (??)
‘A crisis for the nation or the world… huh. That’s why they believed they were right, risking their lives to take him down. But you know what? Despite claiming to be fighting for the nation or the world, isn’t it just their own paranoid fantasy that he might become an enemy?’
I was about to suggest that they get to know their target a bit better before acting, but before I could, Cayenne, alerted by the commotion, entered the room with several soldiers. He seemed to understand the situation immediately, wearing an unusually calm expression.
“Hey, Cayenne. What’s the deal? You’re the one who picked these idiots, right?” (Sanger)
“I apologize. I was overflowing with zeal to honor the hero who saved our nation. I’ll take care of this immediately.” (Cayenne)
“…Fine, get them out of here quickly. Don’t embarrass our guests any further!” (Sanger)
“…Understood.” (Cayenne)
Despite staring daggers at him this whole time, Cayenne didn’t change his expression at all. Meanwhile, the fool who attacked him, thinking he’d get help from Cayenne, was smiling complacently, showing he really didn’t understand a thing.
‘You think Cayenne’s on your side, but the truth is quite the opposite. You lot are the ones being manipulated in the palm of Cayenne’s hand.’
It all started right after that bastard Sirius headed to the Demon Continent.
After the demon extermination was mostly done, as we were about to return to Sandoal Castle, Cayenne suddenly brushed everyone aside and started talking.
“If… he returns, it’ll be troublesome.” (Cayenne)
With a serious expression rarely seen, he spoke about the possibility of Sirius gaining knowledge and technology like Lambda on the Demonic Continent, becoming an object of fear and attracting those who would seek to eliminate him.
“Therefore, from now on, I’ll behave as if Sirius-sama were my enemy. I’ll avoid meeting him if possible and make others believe I’m hostile towards him.” (Cayenne)
‘Opposition groups are like bugs that keep popping up no matter how many times you crush them. So instead of constantly trying to squash them, Cayenne seemed to think it would be better to take control skillfully while being the central figure. Not a bad idea, but only someone like you can handle such trouble.’
“But you, what about you? Wouldn’t you, as someone intelligent, be unable to ignore the existence that threatens our nation or the world?” (Sanger)
“He understands how to wield his power. And if one can establish a good relationship with the strong, there is no need to fear. Besides, in this world, there are countless beings stronger than oneself, so it is immature to fear an unknown opponent. ” (Cayenne)
“Come to think of it, the Strongest Sword old man was also a terrifying presence.” (Sanger)
“And Sirius-sama is not only a benefactor to the king and all of you but also the savior of this nation. To not repay that debt would be truly shameful for those who serve this country.” (Cayenne)
“Well then, what if… what if he returned from the Demon Continent and turned into the worst person you can imagine?” (Sanger)
“Then at that time, I will become his true enemy.” (Cayenne)
His tone was serious, but Cayenne smiled gently as if to say it would never come to that. Despite everything, you really seem to like him after all.
“Sanger-sama, I will gather information on those opposing us and report their movements to you discreetly. I’ve entrusted them with the necessary explanations and connections.” (Cayenne)
“…Understood.” (Sanger)
“In due course, I plan to pass this role on to you, Sanger-sama. Please ensure not only the recovery of our nation but also your studies.” (Cayenne)
And with that, Cayenne assumed the role of Sirius’ adversary. So, this whole incident was just a setup by Cayenne to expose those wary of Sirius, gathering them under the guise of being allies. Originally, I intended to handle them before bringing them into this room, but given the proposal from the Silver Wolf girl, I ended up bringing them in. As Sirius’s awakening drew many comrades to his bedside, the elf girl who had been watching from a distance approached me and spoke.
“Hey, I heard about this beforehand, but are you really sure about this?” (Fia)
“I know it’s too late to ask for trust now, but don’t worry. Those guys won’t make a move anymore.” (Sanger)
Their order might have changed, but those three will likely be eliminated by Cayenne without anyone knowing. They were a bunch who were too extreme or difficult to handle, and honestly, they seemed immature, as Cayenne mentioned. So, there wasn’t much resistance to disposing of them.
‘I can’t help but think I’m too quick to cut them off, but I’m the king of this country now. I won’t hesitate to eliminate anyone who not only fails to keep pace with everyone else but also engages in ridiculous antics out of baseless fear. I… am prepared to walk a blood-soaked path.’
“Now then, I’d like to hear a lot from him, but it looks like it’ll be a while before that’s possible.” (Sanger)
“Yes, indeed. It seems he won’t settle down for a while.” (Fia)
“Can’t be helped. I have other plans lined up, so let him know I’ll come by later.” (Sanger)
The Elf Nee-chan, who had become quite relaxed, also seemed concerned about Sirius, and after delivering the message, I left the room. The place I was heading to now was the first line of defense right in front of the Demonic Continent. The plan I had been advancing for some time had finally came together this morning. Normally, it would take several days to cover this distance, but for me now, that was not much of a distance at all.
Because…
“Sorry about this. I’m making you do so much for me.” (Sanger)
“Hmph! It’s only because of Hina’s request.” (Mejia)
“…Thank you, Mejia-ojiisan.” (Hina)
It was because I wa riding on the dragon Medea, of the dragonkin. His wounds had healed enough for flight. It was just me, the little Hina, and a few of my guards, so it seemed we were going pretty fast, and at this rate, we should arrive by midday.
“Hey, Sanger.” (Hina)
“Hmm, what is it?” (Sanger)
“…Mejia-ojiisan is fast, isn’t she?” (Hina)
“Yeah. I used to have a bunch of dragons with me, but they’re all gone now. It’s nice to have comrades around after all.” (Sanger)
‘But this kid doesn’t really get it. I’ve played with her a few times out of sympathy for what happened with Lambda, and now she’s strangely attached to me. She even jumps onto my lap on her own now. Kids really are hard to figure out. Well, it’s not bad to be liked by a child, but I wish Mejia would ease up on me with her occasional imposing pressure.’
The journey through the skies continued amidst the somewhat awkward atmosphere, and as expected, I arrived at the first defense wall before noon and reunited with Fort, who was stationed there. We had sailed close to the Demonic Continent by boat.
“Boat secured, all set!” (??)
“Sanger-sama, everything is ready.” (Fort)
“That little child hasn’t followed me, has she?” (Sanger)
“Yes! From here, you can see the dragon’s silhouette, so it must be that young lady over there.” (??)
I couldn’t let the child witness what we were about to do. After confirming that Hina and Mejia were at the first defense wall, I issued instructions.
“All right, lower the small boats! Keep a close watch and don’t let anyone escape!” (Sanger)
“Understood!” (??)
From the large ship I was on, several small boats capable of holding ten people each were lowered into the sea, heading towards the Demonic Continent one after another. Those aboard those boats weren’t soldiers but criminals whose limbs were bound, unable to move. More precisely, they were the ones who had ensnared Lambda back when he was still living a normal life.
As I watched the small boats advance toward the Demonic Continent with wind magic, Cayenne, who was standing next to me, muttered in apparent disbelief.
“They are quite ironic individuals. Those who once enjoyed watching from a distance are now participants themselves.” (Cayenne)
“Kuh…” (??)
There was once an unofficial execution method practiced in Sandor, where criminals were sent adrift to the Demonic Continent to be attacked by monsters.
The fools aboard those ships, who had engaged in such nauseating acts of watching from afar, were the ones responsible for the incident this time, as per the dying testimony of Lambda himself and the interrogation we conducted. With their mouths gagged, they could only groan and desperately plead for mercy, but I felt nothing upon seeing their plight.
As the ships landed on the Demonic Continent’s shore, attracting attention from the monsters due to the unusual activity and scent, they began to gather.
“Keep an eye out for any escapees. Although I doubt those people can survive like Lambda, it’s better to be safe.” (Sanger)
“No need to worry. There’s no chance of escape.” (Cayenne)
Several people with keen eyes were monitoring, but honestly, there was hardly any need to confirm as the monsters were already swarming. Perhaps due to some impact, their gags began to loosen, and I could hear their final screams as the beach was dyed in blood. The sight of the ship half destroyed and covered in blood made my anger grow.
“This is ridiculous. I can’t fathom those who enjoy spectacles like this.” (Sanger)
“I agree. However, it’s a fact that there are those who enjoy such things.” (Cayenne)
“I know that. But I don’t like it. I will completely abolish this execution method. If any fools dare to attempt it without permission, I’ll cut off their heads without question!” (Sanger)
“As you wish!” (Cayenne)
As the feeding frenzy subsided, and there was no place left untouched by the carnage, I issued the order to return.
“That’s enough… for now.” (Sanger)
Looking up at the sky, I remembered the face of that guy one last time.
“Well? I kept my promise.” (Sanger)
‘As you can see, I’ve disposed of all those who plotted against you. But you see, Sandor, whom you’ve tried so hard to destroy, will be further developed by me. I know it must be frustrating for you to hear, but that’s my revenge against you, who have exploited and betrayed me for years. I won’t tolerate any complaints. That’s why, while you’re gnashing your teeth in the afterlife, I’ll be waiting for my opportunity… Lambda.’
